Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of developing students’s adversity quotient (AQ). This research examines the difference of students’s AQ in Guided Inquiry learning with Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach (ITCRA) and students’s AQ in conventional learning. This research is quasi experiment with nonequivalent control group design. The population is students which grade eighth in SMPN 1 Padang Panjang, and the samples is selected two classes from seven existing classes. Instruments used to collect data is scale of adversity quotient dan intervies guidelines. Data obtained were analyzed using mean difference t-test. The results show that there are differences of student’s AQ getting ITCRA learning and student’s AQ getting conventional learning.Keywords: Guided Inquiry, Concrete-Representational-Abstract, Adversity Quotient

Abstract

Students' mathematical reasoning ability will be better and develop if the teacher provides learning that supports these abilities. However, most of the students of class XI Science at SMAN 2 Painan have not used and developed their mathematical reasoning abilities optimally, this is due to teachercentered learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the development of mathematical reasoning skills in class XI science students of SMAN 2 Painan during Think Pair Square learning. This research is a descriptive research. The research instrument is a quiz. Quiz is analyzed by determining the average quiz for each meeting, students who complete based on the KKM and determine the performance criteria achieved by students based on the assessment of Iryanti's performance. The results show that students' mathematical reasoning abilities develop.Keywords: Think Pair Square,Mathematical Reasoning Abilities

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance and still not optimal problem solving ability of student mathematical problem. This study examines the improvement of students 'mathematical problem-solving abilities that acquire Guided Inquiry learning with Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach (ITCRA) and students who have received conventional learning, in terms of overall and math skills categories KAM (high, middle, low). This research is a quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. The population is grade VIII SMPN 1 Padang Panjang Lesson Year 2014/2015, and the samples are two classes from seven existing classes. Instruments used in the form of tests, observation sheets, and interview guidelines. The data obtained were analyzed using the difference test, ie t-test and mann-whitney. The results showed that: 1) The achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving ability of students who received ITCRA learning overall better than those who received conventional learning, 2) the increased mathematical problem solving ability of moderate KAM and low KAM better than those with conventional learning, whereas in high KAM, students who received ITCRA learning was no better than that of conventional learning, and 3) there was a difference in the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities of high KAM categories with KAM moderate and low category students who received ITCRA learning. Abstract

This study aims to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities after undergoing inquiry learning with Concrete-Representational-Abstract approach (IT-CRA). This research is a mix method research. The subjects are students of class VIII-B SMPN 1 Padang Panjang, academic year 2015/2016 about 34 people, taken by purposive sampling. The data was collected by test of mathematical problem solving skills and interview. The data of this research consist of qualitative that’s postes and quantitative that’re pretest and postes score. Analysis of qualitative data was in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Analysis of quantitative data was to determine the percentage of student achievement based on protest score, and n-gain score to see the great improvement of students' mathematical problem solving abilities after IT-CRA learning. The results showed that the achievement rate was 66,67% in good enough category. Based on KAM, the achivement of student with high KAM is 85.64% (good), medium KAM is 66.80% (good enough), and low KAM is 47.22% (not good). Furthermore, the average scores of n-gain obtained by 0.61 in the medium category. Then, averages of n-gain on each KAM are moderate. Based on the analysis of postes answers, it is concluded that most students have been able to use strategy of problem solving. However, only a small percentage of students re-check the answer.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang belajar dengan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Snowball Throwing(SBT) dan Numbered Head Together (NHT).  Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen yang dilakukan pada kelas XI IPS di SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Medan. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Analisis data menggunakan independent sample t test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran SBT dengan siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran NHT, dimana rata-rata kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang belajar dengan model SBT sebesar 52, 47 dari skor ideal 100 dan rata-rata kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang belajar dengan model NHT  sebesar 44,87. Hal ini memperlihatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang belajar dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Snowball Throwing lebih baik daripada siswa yang belajar dengan model Numbered Head Together
