Abstract

Happiness, as the ultimate goal of every individual, continues to be a never-ending topic of discussion. In this study, focus is placed on two great Muslim philosophers, Al-Ghazali and Al-Farabi, who have different philosophical backgrounds. Al-Farabi, an Aristotelian, and Al-Ghazali, a sharp critic of this school, encourage us to explore the nature and approach to happiness from their perspectives. Taking into account the differences in their philosophical backgrounds, this study aims to detail the ideas related to happiness promoted by Al-Ghazali and Al-Farabi. Through descriptive analysis and literature study, this research reveals the essence of happiness in their views and explores practical ways to achieve it. The results of this study show that both Al-Ghazali and Al-Farabi agree that true happiness can only be achieved through deep knowledge of God. However, both have different characteristics in the path to happiness.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on religious authority, specifically the role of Kiai and Ulama in Indonesia. AI offers opportunities to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of religious practices but poses challenges related to authenticity and religious hierarchy. The research method used is a literature review and document analysis, involving the collection and review of various sources such as journal articles, research reports, and online news. The findings indicate that AI has been adopted in various religious practices, including virtual preachers, prayer bots, and personalized religious guidance tools. However, there are significant concerns regarding AI's authenticity and authority in providing religious guidance, reflected in the prohibition of AI fatwas by major Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The "digital pulpit" is seen as a new arena where traditional religious authorities must actively negotiate their role amid the decentralizing and democratizing forces brought about by AI.
