The Effectiveness of Textbook Character Education-Based in Madrasah Aliyah at Gorontalo Mantau, Burhanudin Abdul Karim

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effectiveness of character education in Madrasah Aliyah at Gorontalo. Four Madrasah Aliyah are used as research settings such as MAN Insan Cendekia, Madrasah Aliyah al-Khairaat, Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah, and Madrasah Aliyah al-Yusra. The number of subjects in this study was 221 students divided into two groups control groups as many as 114 students and experimental groups of 107 students. In addition, researchers also involved four lecturers of the poetry appreciation universities. This study used an experimental method with an independent t-test model that compares the difference between the pre-test and post-test values ​​of the control class and the experimental class. The result of the analysis shows that the average score of the experimental group is 15.68 and the control group average is 10.86. Then an independent t-test result of the t-count is 5.087 along with a significance value of 0.000. Due to the significance of 0.000 <0.05, the Ho was rejected and there was a significant difference between the pretest and the post-test, the experimental group and the control group. Thus, the character-based education is effectively used in higher education.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengungkap peran orang tua dan guru dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar di SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme Kabupaten Gorontalo. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah fenomenologis dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Adapun sumber data adalah primer dan sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data: observasi, wawancara, studi dokumen. Teknik analisis data yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Adapun hasil penelitian bahwa bentuk kemitraan antara orang tua dan guru di SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme terdiri atas dua bentuk yaitu kemitraan guru PAI dan orang tua melalui komite sekolah dan kemitraan orang tua dan guru melalui bimbingan dan konseling. Dampak kemitraan antara orang tua dan guru terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme menunjukkan bahwa melalui kemitraan yang dilakukan oleh guru PAI dan orang tua di SMA Negeri 1 Bongomeme selama ini baik dalam bentuk surat-menyurat maupun mengisi buku penghubung dan menindaklanjutinya telah memberikan dampak positif bagi hasil belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran PAI.

Abstract

This article aims to explore the tradition and culture of education in madrasahsMadrasah to see the educational construction found in the reinforcement of a nation’s character. This study used a qualitative approach of ethnography study, which emphasizes the importance of the central role of culture in understanding the way of life of observed groups through the ethnography method. Furthermore, the data source consists of primary data such as the words or spoken stuff and the behaviors from the subjects related to the Madrasah’s educational instruction in the reinforcement of characters and secondary data such as text, recording, or pictures, which is related to educational practices conducted. The findings show that the educational culture and tradition of the Madrasah have transformed the characters’ values scientifically through the tradition implemented in the daily activity of the people in the Madrasah. The uniqueness of characteristics of people in the Madrasah is shown through the individual or group behavior, language, and tradition, which can reflect the values of honesty, togetherness, tolerance, respect, and others, which all values are part of the substance in reinforcing characters. The reinforcement of students’ character at Madrasah is through the process of self-establishment, the habituation of good students’ behavior through every activity until they become strong cultural characters.
