Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of maqasid al-shariah in microfinance through a comparative dialogue between classical fiqh and the practices of contemporary Islamic Microfinance Institutions (IMFIs). Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach based on library research, the study examines classical sources such as al-Ghazali, al-Syatibi, and Ibn ‘Ashur, alongside modern literature on Islamic microfinance. The findings reveal that classical fiqh emphasizes normative protection of the five essential dimensions of maqasid through simple contracts such as qardh, mudharabah, and musyarakah. In contrast, contemporary IMFIs apply maqasid in a more practical manner, focusing on financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development. The study also identifies challenges in consistent implementation due to limited resources and market competition, yet highlights opportunities through innovative Islamic financial instruments and the legitimacy of DSN-MUI fatwas. Thus, maqasid al-shariah can be viewed as a dynamic framework that balances shariah compliance with socio-economic welfare, positioning IMFIs as agents of just, inclusive, and sustainable transformation.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the phenomenon of the transformation of da’wah into the digital sphere, which requires preachers not only to deliver religious messages but also to build a unique value proposition and strong personal branding to attract audiences and contribute to the community’s economy. The main research question examines how value proposition and personal branding in digital da’wah shape preacher professionalism and support the strengthening of the ummah’s economy. This study positions itself within the integration of da’wah studies, digital communication, and community economics, which remains underexplored comprehensively. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach focusing on Gus Iqdam and Gus Kausar through social media content observation and literature review. The data analysis technique not only follows general stages such as data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, but is also strengthened by content analysis and comparative analysis approaches. The findings reveal that both preachers possess distinctive value propositions through communicative styles, humanistic approaches, and relevant content strategies, along with consistent personal branding, which lead to increased audience engagement and contribute to the strengthening of the ummah’s economy through the enhancement of work ethics, economic literacy, and a value-based digital ecosystem.

Abstract

The digital era has significantly transformed the landscape of da’wah institutions, particularly in patterns of religious communication, institutional structures, and the construction of religious authority. These changes demand not only technical adaptation but also a philosophical and conceptual reconstruction of da’wah institutions within contemporary society. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this study analyzes relevant literature through content analysis and a critical-reflective perspective. The findings reveal a transition of da’wah institutions from normative and conventional models toward transformative, adaptive, and digitally integrated ecosystems. Ontologically, da’wah institutions function as agents of social transformation; epistemologically, they operate as integrative systems of knowledge; and axiologically, they serve as guardians of ethical and moral values in the digital sphere. The integration of Islamic values with digital innovation emerges as an essential foundation for sustaining institutional relevance, legitimacy, and credibility. Consequently, the reconstruction of the conceptual framework of da’wah institutions constitutes a strategic response to the challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation.
