ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is a condition where the middle ear becomes inflamed because of a hole in the eardrum. It is identified by the continuous or recurrent discharge of fluids for more than three months. Unfortunately, developing countries experience a higher number of CSOM cases than developed countries because of poor hygiene, socio-economic factors, low nutrition, population density, and lack of health services. Furthermore, there is a lack of public understanding about CSOM, which means people may not seek complete treatment. One of the biggest risk factors for otitis media is socio-economic status. METHODS: A study involving 52 patients with chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) was conducted at the ENT polyclinic in Waled Hospital. Data was collected through questionnaires.. RESULTS According to the research, it was found that out of the respondents, 18 patients (34.6%) had attained education up to the elementary school level. Additionally, 33 patients (63.5%) among them were not employed and based on income, 51 patients (98.1%) had an income less than Rp. 2,430,780. The socio-economic status of the patients in the ENT polyclinic at Waled Hospital revealed that the majority of the patients, 38 patients (73.1%), belonged to the low socio-economic group. CONCLUSION: The socioeconomic status of patients with Central Serous Ophthalmopathy (CSOM) at Waled Hospital is established.
