Abstract

The APK&E Laboratory at Telkom University is facing the problem of 116 out of 486 practitioners not graduating in 2022, due to a lack of understanding of practicum requirements informed through a Facebook group. To overcome this, the research aims to design a website user interface mockup as a more effective information dissemination medium. The Double Diamond method was used, consisting of the discover, define, develop, and deliver phases. In the discover and define phases, in-depth analysis through interviews and surveys identified user needs and evaluated existing means of information dissemination. In the develop and deliver phase, a website mockup was designed which was tested for ease of use. The mockup design included features such as an easy-to-navigate main page, structured practicum information, and information upload time settings. Usability testing with the System Usability Scale (SUS) showed a score of 88, categorized as "acceptable" with grade B which means "Excellent". In conclusion, this mockup design is effective as an alternative media for disseminating practicum information, provides benefits for practitioners and APK&E Laboratory assistants in easy access to information, and underscores the importance of a user-centered design approach in developing effective technology solutions.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the café industry demands innovative approaches to remain competitive. This study proposes a user interface (UI) design for the Kaikana Coffee & Kitchen website using the Design Thinking methodology to improve marketing effectiveness. The research applies the five-stage Design Thinking process—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—to design a user-centric interface that enhances customer engagement and simplifies online interactions. Surveys involving 30 customers and interviews with the café owner informed us of the design. The final prototype was evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS), yielding an average score of 82.75, indicating a high level of usability. The results suggest that a professionally designed website can significantly enhance customer satisfaction, improve sales performance, and strengthen brand identity. Future work should focus on broader user testing and integration with e-commerce functionalities.
