Abstract

Social entrepreneurship has emerged as a transformative approach to addressing economic and social inequalities by empowering marginalized communities through innovative and sustainable business models. Unlike traditional business enterprises that prioritize profit maximization, social entrepreneurship integrates economic objectives with social impact, fostering inclusive development and long-term community resilience. This study explores the role of social entrepreneurship in promoting economic inclusion, particularly for marginalized groups such as low-income communities, women entrepreneurs, people with disabilities, and indigenous populations. Utilizing a qualitative research approach, this study examines case studies of social enterprises that have successfully uplifted marginalized communities through capacity-building, financial inclusion, and employment generation. Findings reveal that social entrepreneurs implement diverse strategies, including skills training programs, microfinance initiatives, and market access facilitation, to enable self-sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods. However, challenges such as limited funding, regulatory barriers, and scalability constraints hinder the growth of social enterprises. The study highlights the critical role of government policies, private sector collaborations, and social innovation ecosystems in overcoming these challenges and ensuring the sustainability of impact-driven enterprises. This research contributes to the broader discourse on inclusive economic development by emphasizing the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to fostering social entrepreneurship. It argues that empowering marginalized communities through entrepreneurial initiatives requires a combination of policy support, social investment, and digital transformation. The study provides policy recommendations for strengthening social enterprise ecosystems and enhancing their capacity to drive long-term socio-economic change.

Abstract

This study aims to determine business strategy and its impact on the income of independent entrepreneur families during the pandemic and the new normal era of Covid-19 (A Case study of the Al-Ichwan Banana Chips Business). This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The type of research data used is primary data and secondary data. In analyzing the data, researchers conducted observations, field research, in-depth interviews, and segmentation to obtain the relevant analysis. The researcher directly visited the object under study, namely Al-Ichwan's banana chip processed SME in Lera Village, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi. The results of the study show that business strategy can be carried out by utilizing technology in distributing goods through e-commerce platforms and using social media and continuing to innovate products. The revenue impact has decreased drastically considering the availability of raw materials has become scarce and prices have soared. In addition, entering the new normal era is a challenge in optimizing and revamping business strategies.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance the financial management capabilities of weaving artisans in Kampung Tenun Rongkong, Luwu Utara, by strengthening their understanding and application of production cost management. Traditional weavers generally rely on intuitive methods when determining production expenses and pricing, which results in inaccurate cost estimates, inconsistent pricing strategies, and limited financial sustainability. To address this gap, a participatory and problem-based approach was implemented through several stages, including preliminary assessment, training workshops, hands-on mentoring, and evaluation. The program introduced key concepts related to cost classification, cost of goods manufactured (COGM), cost of goods sold (COGS), budgeting techniques, and simple financial record-keeping tailored to small-scale weaving enterprises. The results indicate significant improvements in artisans’ knowledge of production cost components, accuracy in cost calculation, and their ability to record daily expenditures using structured worksheets. Participants also demonstrated increased awareness of overhead costs and adopted more rational pricing strategies based on actual cost data. Mentoring activities further facilitated behavioral changes, particularly in tracking expenses and exploring more efficient raw material procurement options. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges related to varying literacy levels and limited digital readiness remain. The program highlights the importance of continuous assistance and the integration of broader capacity-building topics, such as digital marketing and market access, to ensure long-term sustainability for traditional weaving communities.
