Abstract

This research is a study of the novel Everna: Rajni Sari by Andry Chang through the perspective of fantasy literature. This study aims to explain the fantasy aspects of the novel and prove that the fantastic mode used is immersive fantasy based on Tolkien's sub-creation theory, Greer Watson's assumption of reality, and Farah Mendhlesohn's fantasy taxonomy. This research is a structural study with a literature study method. The data collection was done by note-taking technique and the analysis results were presented in descriptive terms in the tense of sentences and images. The results show that the novel is an immersive fantasy as proved by the concept of sub-creation, which are: (1) the existence of magical elements (Faerie), and (2) the existence of secondary worlds and secondary beliefs.
