Abstract

Early childhood is a critical phase in children's cognitive development, making play-based learning an effective approach for introducing abstract concepts such as numbers. This study aims to evaluate the effect of educational play stimulation on number recognition skills in children aged 3–5 years at TK Z Pontianak. Using a one-shot case study experimental design, four children were selected through purposive sampling. The intervention was conducted over two days through five types of educational games, including number cards, sand play, fruit-tree games, concrete numbers, and dice. Data were collected using post-tests, worksheets, and non-participant observation. The results showed an increase in the average post-test score from 8.25 to 15.75, along with improved enthusiasm, focus, and social interaction during the learning process. These findings indicate that play-based methods enhance number recognition skills and support children's social-emotional development. The study recommends the continued application of play-based strategies in early childhood education to strengthen children's foundational numeracy. ABSTRAK Masa usia dini merupakan fase krusial dalam perkembangan kognitif anak, sehingga pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis bermain dinilai efektif dalam memperkenalkan konsep abstrak seperti angka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh stimulasi permainan edukatif terhadap kemampuan mengenal angka pada anak usia 3–5 tahun di TK Z Pontianak. Penelitian menggunakan desain eksperimen one-shot case study dengan empat subjek yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Intervensi dilakukan selama dua hari melalui lima jenis permainan edukatif, seperti kartu angka, pasir, buah-pohon, bilangan konkret, dan dadu. Data dikumpulkan melalui post-test, lembar kerja, dan observasi non-partisipatif. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata post-test dari 8,25 menjadi 15,75, serta adanya peningkatan antusiasme, fokus, dan interaksi anak selama proses pembelajaran. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode bermain mampu meningkatkan kemampuan mengenal angka serta mendukung perkembangan sosial-emosional anak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penerapan metode bermain secara berkelanjutan dalam pendidikan anak usia dini untuk memperkuat fondasi numerik mereka.
