Abstract

The study of human movement systems is often difficult for students to comprehend because it is abstract and theoretical. Therefore, concrete and interactive learning media are needed to help students better understand this concept. This research aims to develop a hand replica as a teaching aid in Science subject for Phase C, focusing on improving students' understanding of the human movement system, particularly the mechanism of bones and muscles. The method used in this study is a classroom experiment employing a pretest and posttest approach, involving students in the creation of hand replicas using simple and easily accessible materials. Students were encouraged to observe, assemble, and manipulate the hand replicas to simulate the movements of a real human hand. Observations showed that the use of hand replicas in learning significantly improved students' understanding of the human movement system. Additionally, using hand replicas helped students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through engaging and enjoyable hands-on activities. In conclusion, creating hand replicas as learning media is effective in enhancing students' understanding and collaborative skills in group settings regarding the human movement system in elementary school Science learning. It is hoped that this media can be more widely applied as an innovative method in Science teaching and learning processes.

Abstract

Online games are a highly concerning phenomenon in today's digital era. Online game addiction can cause problems in daily life. The prevalence of online game addiction has been increasing due to the ease of access to technology among children. This study aims to examine the influence of online game addiction on academic achievement and social interaction among elementary school-aged children. The study employed a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving 24 students from SD Muhammadiyah 1 Kota Malang and 28 students from MI Muhammadiyah 03. The results indicated a significant negative impact of online game addiction on students' academic performance. Additionally, online game addiction also affected the quality of social interactions, such as reduced communication with peers and family. These findings highlight the critical role of parents and teachers in monitoring children's online gaming time and supporting the development of their social and academic skills. Interventions, such as technology education and time management, can serve as preventive measures to mitigate the negative effects of online game addiction on children.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of project-based authentic assessment in improving students’ conceptual understanding and skills in the topic of the Solar System. The assessment was conducted on 11 student groups who developed planetary arrangement media as part of science learning. The results indicate that this approach had a positive impact on students' cognitive abilities, particularly in understanding factual concepts and applying them in real-life contexts. The average scores across five assessment aspects were as follows: conceptual understanding (80), group performance (80), product (78), portfolio (80), and presentation skills (76). These scores reflect that the majority of students met the success criteria within the “good” category. The use of authentic assessment allowed students not only to comprehend the material but also to develop critical thinking, collaboration, and self-reflection skills. Observations during the project implementation showed that students were highly enthusiastic, actively engaged in group discussions, and eager to design and build the solar system models. In-depth interviews also revealed that students found it easier to understand the material through project-based methods compared to conventional methods such as lectures or textbook reading. Authentic assessment has proven to effectively integrate cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, offering a meaningful learning experience that is contextualized to real-world situations. Therefore, this approach is suitable for implementation as a science learning strategy in elementary and secondary education.
