Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges faced by teachers in teaching Natural Sciences (IPA) within the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka at the elementary school level. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The subject of this study was a classroom teacher at SDN 112/I Perumnas who had applied the Kurikulum Merdeka in her teaching practice. The findings revealed seven key themes: limited availability of learning media, time and logistical constraints, teacher creativity in overcoming resource limitations, varied teaching methods, application of Problem-Based Learning and Project-Based Learning approaches, the adequacy yet suboptimal use of learning facilities, and the gradual adaptation process to the new curriculum. These findings indicate that while teachers have made efforts to implement active and contextual learning, significant challenges remain, both technical and systemic. Therefore, continuous support is needed in the form of training, provision of instructional media, and policies that promote teacher flexibility and creativity in effectively implementing the curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies implemented by teachers in Social Studies (IPS) learning under the Merdeka Curriculum at the elementary school level. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subject was a classroom teacher at SDN 111/I Muara Bulian who had implemented the Merdeka Curriculum in Social Studies instruction. The findings reveal eight main focus areas: the use of lecture, discussion, and assignment methods; the selection of learning media based on material needs; the use of ice-breaking and question-and-answer strategies; contextual approaches linking material to students' real-life experiences; individual and group learning; support for students experiencing difficulties; evaluation through formative, summative, and alternative assessments; and the optimization of learning resources. The study also highlights significant challenges in implementing assessment within the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly the need for clearer guidelines and more comprehensive training. Therefore, the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires ongoing support from schools and the government, including pedagogical training, provision of learning media, and the development of applicable assessment policies to achieve the goal of meaningful and student-centered learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop augmented reality (AR)-based flashcard learning media on Solar System material for sixth grade elementary school students. The development was carried out using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. During the analysis stage, it was found that students needed interactive visual media and that the school had facilities that supported the use of AR. The design stage produced 15 flashcards equipped with QR markers to display augmented reality 3D objects, which were packaged in a special box so that the media was neatly arranged, easy to store, and practical for use by students and teachers. The developed media was then validated by subject matter experts, media experts, and language experts with results of 93.3%, 90%, and 100%, respectively, making it highly valid. Furthermore, a practicality test was conducted through a teacher questionnaire with a score of 97.33% and a student questionnaire through small group trials (92.75%) and large group trials (97%), all of which showed a very practical category. The evaluation stage was carried out continuously to ensure the suitability of the media with the learning objectives and student needs. The final results of the study showed that augmented reality-based flashcards were feasible and practical for use in science learning. This media can be further developed by adding object variations and integrating it into science material.
