Abstract

The application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach in this research aims to improve students' learning outcomes. This research is a type of Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is carried out in class V IPAS learning at SDN Pandanwangi 3 within a span of 2 learning cycles. Data collection in this research was through observation, written tests, documentation, and students' reflections. Meanwhile, to obtain more comprehensive and valid data, the data in this research were analyzed using mixed methods, which combine quantitative and qualitative approaches. Starting at the pre-cluster stage, researchers found that only 37.93% of students had reached mastery, while 62.07% of students were not yet complete. Afterwards, by applying the CRT approach, in cycle I the results showed that 51.72% of students had reached mastery, 48.28% of students were not yet complete. Whereas in cycle II, there was a significant increase in results, namely there were 82.76% of students who had completed, and only 17.24% of students who had not completed. Through these results, it can be seen that there is an increase in the learning outcomes of students in the realm of knowledge, it can be seen that in cycle I 51.72% of students are complete, this result has increased in cycle II, namely 82.76% of students have completed. The findings of this research reveal that the application of the CRT approach can significantly improve students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of the CRT approach with the Problem-Based Learning model in Civics subjects with the help of flashcards that raise the theme of how diversity can affect the learning outcomes of grade 2 students at SDN Pandanwangi 3. This research method uses classroom action research (PTK) which consists of two cycles. This research uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and evaluation of learning outcomes. The results showed a significant increase in students' average scores, from 82.43 in the pre-cycle to 89.29 in cycle I and 97.86 in cycle II. The number of student completions also increased, with 78.57% completed in the pre-cycle, 100% in cycle I, and 100% in cycle II. This shows that the application of the CRT approach with the PBL model assisted by flashcards is very suitable for improving student learning outcomes. In conclusion, the CRT approach in PBL assisted by diversity flash cards makes a significant contribution to enriching the understanding of inclusive learning that is student-centered and relevant to cultural diversity. This research is expected to contribute to improving the quality of basic education by prioritizing cultural diversity in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the cognitive learning outcomes and collaboration skills of students through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with a Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach, assisted by comic media integrated in the Learner Worksheet (LKPD). The background of this study is the low achievement of learning outcomes and collaboration skills of fourth-grade students of SDN Pandanwangi 3, Malang City, in IPAS subjects, especially in the subtopic of Social Interaction. This classroom action research (PTK) was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The research subjects were 28 fourth-grade students. Data collection techniques were conducted through learning outcome tests and observation of collaboration skills, while data analysis used a quantitative descriptive approach and a paired t-test statistical test. The results showed that in the pre-cycle, only 17.86% of students reached mastery, increased to 67.86% in cycle I, and reached 85.71% in cycle II. Statistical tests showed a gradual, significant increase. Thus, the implementation of the CRT-based PBL model assisted by comics proved effective in improving learning outcomes and collaboration skills and encouraging meaningful, contextualized learning. It was also rooted in the local culture of students.
