Abstract

Quality control (QC) is a process for evaluating laboratory testing quality to ensure the integrity of the laboratory's quality system. Part of this process involves using Six sigma, a quality indicator that assesses analytical performance. This study aims to determine the value of daily control data through the evaluation of the Levey-jennings chart and determine the sigma value and DPMO in the albumin and total bilirubin of testing. This study used quantitative descriptive method with cross-sectional approach. The sampling method employed was total sampling. The population composed of secondary data from daily controls of albumin and bilirubin tests conducted October 2023 – March 2024. Based on the evaluation of the Levey-jennings chart using Westgard rules for albumin and bilirubin tests, control values violating the 12s, 13s, and 41s rules for six consecutive months. For albumin testing, the PME bias was 2.07%, the average CV PMI was 1.46%, and the sigma value was 5.4. For total bilirubin testing, the PME bias was 7.79%, the average CV PMI was 2.78%, and the sigma value was 4.4. In conclusion, the evaluation of the Levey-jennings chart using Westgard rules showed that the control values for albumin and bilirubin tests violated the 12s, 13s, and 41s rules. The sigma value for albumin testing was 5.4 with a DPMO of 40, while for total bilirubin testing, it was 4.4 with a DPMO of 1.860.
