Abstract

Analysis of essential oil contained in Timor Hyptis suaveolens L Poit leaves has been done over GC-MS spectrometer. By distilling of the pre-dried leave samples using Stahl apparatus, there was 0,134% colored yellow and typical oil yielded. The GC-MS detected 33 compounds mainly 16,47% of trans-caryophillene, 16,09% of 1,8-cineole, 8,32% of caryophyllene oxide, 6,67% of 3 cyclohexene-1ol,4-methyl-1-1 and 2,7,6,24% of 11-cyclotetradecatrien-1-ol. Moreover phenol-2-methoxy trans-caryopillene, a-gurjunne, phenol-2,4-bis, 1-hexadecene, a-cedrol and cembrene have been found as new chemotype in comparison to 10 suoveolens from different countries, planting condition and/or climates.

Abstract

Synthesis of 1,5-Diphenylpenta-2,4-dien-1-one from local cinnamaldehyde has been done. Through aldol condensation reaction submission of local cinnamaldehyde with acetophenone in the presence of KOH resulted in 57% yellow oil confirmed as the desired product by GMMS analysis.

Abstract

A research on waste water treatment using electrolysis has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum condition of electric voltage or time in reducing the Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygent Demand (BOD) of Mgr. Gabriel Manek, SVD hospitall’s waste effluent. The method used in this study was carbon-carbon electrolysis method. The results showed decreasing of TSS levels from 2880 mg/L to 40 mg/L with % removal of 98.61%, COD levels from 8,240 mg/L to 2,883 mg/L with % removal of 65.34% and BOD levels of 520 mg/L to 40 mg/L with a % removal of 92.30%.
