Abstract

The existence of communities around or within the Mutis Timau Protected Forest Area causes problems in forest areas such as forest fires and logging. One of the programs issued by the Ministry of Forestry related to the above problems is community empowerment through the Community Forest (HKm) program, one of which is located in Bikekneno Village, South Mollo District, South Central Timor Regency. This study aims to determine the impact of community forest management on the economy of Gapoktan Oliftataf. The method used in this research is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out using interview, observation and documentation techniques. Analyzing the contribution of community income in Bikekneno Village from HKm income and non HKm income. The income of non HKm members of Gapoktan Oliftataf is greater than HKm business income. Non HKm income is greater than HKm income because most respondents have more livestock, besides that there are respondents whose land productivity has decreased and some respondents manage land whose results are for their own consumption so that they experience a decrease in income. The income obtained from the HKm business per year is Rp. 150,100,000 and the income from the Non HKm business is Rp. 416,000,000. The contribution of the HKm business of Gapoktan Oliftataf members averaged 26.51% and the contribution of non HKm income was 73.49%.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Mutis Timau Nature Reserve, Tutem Village and Tune Village in September 2023. This research used purposive method. Purposive side based on the height of the place where orchid plants exist. Qualitative data processing is used to obtain the name of orchid species. Samples of orchid species obtained are then processed and analyzed in accordance with orchid data that have key identification characters such as flowers, leaves, roots, stems and fruit. Composition of orchid species in Mutis Timau Nature Reserve Area as many as 18 species of epiphytic orchids Dendrobium sagitatum, Dendrobium purpureum, Dendrobium tetreadre, Ceologyne speciosa, Pholidota carnea, Vanda Limbata, Thrixpermum subulatum, Trichoglottis sp, Oberonia obesa, Luisia unguiculata, Bryobium retusum, Bulbophyllum sp 1, Bulbophyllum sp 2, Bulbophyllum odoratum, Ceratostyllis radiata Eria multiflora, Eria retusa, Flickingeria grandiflora.

Abstract

Sandalwood (Santalum album) has hemiparasitic properties with a character as a root parasite, which is characterized by the formation of haustoria to connect sandalwood roots with host plant roots. It is this hemiparasitic nature that causes sandalwood during the growth period to require the presence of other plants around it which act as hosts. Many sandalwood seedlings fail to germinate or grow very slowly due to being planted without a host. This study aims to determine the growth effect of sandalwood seedlings from different seed sources on various types of hosts. The method used was a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD), namely the influence of host species. Host types consist of Lamtoro, Kaliandra, Turi, and Moringa. The source of the seeds came from South Timor Tengah Selatan (X) and Alor Regency (Y). The results of the study based on the analysis of variance showed that the treatment of host plants had an effect on the growth of sandalwood. The results of the analysis of variance for each observation parameter also showed that the average growth rate was not much different between the two seed sources, but in general the growth of sandalwood seedlings from South Central Timor district had a higher average value than that of seed sources from Alor. So if we look at it based on the average value of growth, the growth of sandalwood seedlings from Timor Tengah Selatan is better than the growth of sandalwood seedlings from Alor.

Abstract

Sulfur or sulfur is one of the essential nutrients that plants need for their growth. Plants that lack the nutrient sulfur will cause symptoms of chlorosis (pale to yellow leaves), slow growth and development so that the plants grow thin and stunted. Excess sulfur elements cause the pH value in plants to be too acidic so that the leaves fall off easily. This research aims to determine the effect of sulfur water concentration on the growth of ampel bamboo seedlings (Bambusa vulgaris) and the concentration of sulfur water that has the best influence on the growth of ampel bamboo seedlings (Bambusa vulgaris). The samples were given different treatments. There were 4 variables observed in this research, namely, Percentage of Living Cuttings, Shoot Length, Number of Leaves and Root Length. The research results showed that the concentration of sulfur water did not have a real influence on the variable percentage of survival of cuttings, but had a very real influence on the variables shoot length, number of leaves and root length. On the shoot length variable, the treatment that gave the best effect was the treatment with a sulfur concentration of 300 ppm, on the leaf number variable, the treatment that gave the best effect was the treatment with a concentration of 300 ppm, and on the root length variable, the treatment that gave the best effect was the treatment with a concentration of 300 ppm.

Abstract

Bamboo is one of the potential plants in the Flores area, one of which is in East Flores Regency. Decree of the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara No. 404 of 2018 states that bamboo is designated as one of the 14 leading Non-Timber Forest Product (HHBK) commodities in East Nusa Tenggara. The percentage of survival from multiplication of betung bamboo branch cuttings is still low, namely around 44.44% so that it becomes a problem in procuring seeds. This research was conducted to determine the effectiveness of natural ZPT on the growth of betung bamboo branch cuttings with various concentrations and which concentrations of natural growth regulators gave the best results in the growth of betung bamboo cuttings. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 1 factor, namely the concentration consisting of Control (Aquades), Shallots and Coconut Water with each concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. The results showed that natural PGR of coconut water and shallots had a very significant effect on the parameters of the period of shoot emergence, number of shoots, number of leaves and root length of bamboo betung branch cuttings (Dendrocalamus asper) but had no significant effect on survival percentage of bamboo betung branch cuttings. Treatments A1 (25% concentration of ZPT coconut water) and A5 (25% shallot concentration) gave the best results for the parameters of the shoot emergence period, number of shoots, number of leaves and root length of bamboo betung (Dendrocalamus asper) cuttings.

Abstract

In the Mutis Timau protected forest area there are various natural and cultural attractions, one of which is Lake Kaenka which is a developed ecotourism spot. Research on the area was conducted to determine the potential that exists and the development strategy that will be used in the area so that it can determine the impact of ecotourism development on the economic conditions of the community in Fatukoto Village. This research took place for two months, namely October - December 2022 in Fatukoto Village, North Mollo District, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Respondents in this study amounted to 106 people consisting of 6 managers and 10 people from the community who were obtained using the Snowball Sampling method, while 90 visitors were obtained using the accidental sampling method or incidental technique with the linear time function (LTF) sampling formula and then analyzed using the ADO-ODTWA analysis method, SWOT analysis, and Interactive data analysis method. The results showed that (1) the total potential feasibility value of the 7 assessment variables was 65.61% so that Lake Kaenka Ecotourism was not yet feasible and had to increase the existing potential. (2) The development strategy obtained is by optimizing management, seeking equitable transportation, forming tourism awareness community groups and developing tourist attractions. (3) Lake Kaenka Ecotourism can increase the income of the surrounding community even though it is not much.
