Abstract

Asmat Regency has a mangrove forest area of 300,000 hectares. It has dozens of big and small rivers that empty into the Arafura Sea. The soil structure is muddy along the coast, so mangrove plants thrive in this environment far downstream. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to conduct research to determine the types of mangroves that live in the coastal area of Kampung Aou, Pulau Tiga District, and Asmat Regency. The aims of this study were to determine the types of mangroves that live in the coastal area of Kampung Aou, Pulau Tiga District, Asmat Regency, South Papua Province, and the condition of the water quality at the study site. This research lasted for 2 months, from January to February 2023, and was located in the coastal area of Aou Village, Pulau Tiga District, Asmat Regency, South Papua Province. The method used in this research is the survey method. Based on the results of the research, overall, it was found that 10 types of mangroves were grouped into 5 orders, 5 families, 8 genera, and 10 species. The water quality values are still in the normal range for mangrove life, namely: pH 7, temperature 28 °C–29 °C, and salinity ranges from 13–14%.

Abstract

Ectoparasites can cause large numbers of deaths in fish. The effects of ectoparasites on fish (as hosts) in the form of mechanical damage, nutrient uptake and toxic effects can reduce fish stock density and reduce fish quality due to defects. Eels are a freshwater fishery commodity with quite high economic value. The aim of this research is to determine the types of ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eels (Synbranchus bengalensis) and to determine the condition of water quality during research in tarpaulin ponds at the Yosua People's Nursery Unit (UPR) in Hawaii, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency; The research lasted for 3 months, namely March to May 2023. Sampling was carried out at the "Josua" Community Seedling Unit (UPR) in Hawaii, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency. Next, the samples were taken to the Fish Disease Testing Laboratory at the Jayapura Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products Center to identify ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eels (Synbrancus bengalensis). The method used in this research is the survey method. The results of the research show that there are 2 types of ectoparasites that attack Swamp Eel (Synbrancus bengalensis), namely: Trichodina sp and Lernaea sp. The body parts attacked by parasites are: gills and mucus. Water quality parameters include: pH ranging between 6 - 7 and temperature ranging between 26 - 29 ºC. The water quality at the research location is still within the normal range for the life of Rice Eel Fish (Synbrancus . bengalensis).

Abstract

Lake Sentani is a fairly large and fertile lake in the Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, with awater area of around 9,360 ha, an average depth of around 52 m. The source of the lake'swater comes from 14 large and small rivers and there is only one estuary, namely the DjaifuriRiver which is located to the east (Puay Region). Then it joins the Tami River and finallyempties into the Pacific Ocean. Lake Sentani is rich in aquatic resources and is a habitat forvarious fish species, however, information about the types of fish in the area is still limited. Tofind out the types of fish that exist and live in the waters of Lake Semtani, research has beencarried out which will take place in October - December 2022, at Yoboy Village, SentaniDistrict, Jayapura Regency. The method used in this research is a survey method. Fishsampling was carried out by catching fish using fishing gear, nets and fishing rods. The fishsamples are then taken to the laboratory and identified. Based on the research results, a totalof 22 fish species were found which were grouped into 8 orders, 13 families, 20 genera, 22species. Water quality conditions are still within the normal range for fish life, namely: pHranges between 7 – 7.5; brightness 30 - 50 cm and 29 ºC – 30 ºC. temperature 29.3°C.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types of ectoparasites of carp (Cyprinus carpio) in the carp cultivation ponds of UPR Yosua, Jayapura Regency. It was carried out from May to June 2023 at the Fish Disease Testing Laboratory of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Jayapura Fishery Products Center in Sentani. This study used 10 juvenile carp measuring 10-20 cm. Parasite observations were carried out using a compound microscope and identification using the Kabata method (1985). From the samples tested, several Ichtyopthirius multifiliis were found that infected the gills of carp (Cyprinus carpio), and Trichodina sp. were found in the mucus/skin of carp (Cyprinus carpio).
