Abstract

The rise of interreligious prejudice in Indonesia is an alarming phenomenon, evident in the intensification of social polarization, the spread of identity-based conflicts, and the decline of constructive communication among religious communities. This situation often hinders efforts to build truthful narratives and substantive dialogue, as they are obstructed by deeply rooted stereotypes and prejudices. This study analyzes the urgency of an epistemological transformation from prejudice toward authentic dialogue as a concrete embodiment of a dynamic and transformative Christian faith, with a particular focus on the narrative of John 1:35–51. By employing a literature-based methodology and descriptive analysis, this research demonstrates how encounters with Christ provide a strong epistemological and spiritual foundation for overcoming prejudice while fostering meaningful interreligious dialogue. Dialogue in this perspective is not understood as doctrinal relativism but as a praxis grounded in truth, agape love, and mutual recognition. This study specifically examines the application of the principle “come and see” as a methodology for cultivating tolerance in response to the complexities of today’s socio-cultural challenges. By integrating theological reflection with the pluralistic reality of Indonesia, this article offers a new perspective on the contribution of Christians in a plural society, particularly their role as facilitators of dialogue amid a social climate saturated with prejudice. The findings of this research are expected to make a significant contribution to the development of more effective, constructive, and transformative models of interreligious dialogue.

Abstract

The global ecological crisis calls for deeper interreligious reflection on humanity’s relationship with creation. The Catholic Church, through Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, and Islam, through its doctrine of amanah (trusteeship) toward nature, both affirm humanity’s moral responsibility as stewards of creation. Yet, in social and religious practices, these ecological values are often overlooked due to dominant anthropocentric and exploitative paradigms. This study proposes an eco-theological dialogue framework that positions environmental theology as an ethical meeting ground between Catholic and Islamic traditions. Using a qualitative comparative textual analysis of Laudato Si’ and Islamic classical and contemporary sources on amanah, the study finds a profound convergence: the Earth is a divine trust that must be cared for with love, justice, and spiritual responsibility. Both traditions reject environmental exploitation and advocate for faith-based ecological conversion. This dialogue thus provides an ethical foundation for interreligious collaboration toward integral ecology and peace with creation. Abstract

This article analyzes the roles of Mary and Martha from the perspective of Luke 10:38-42, which depicts two different attitudes in welcoming the arrival of Jesus: action (Martha) and contemplation (Mary). This research aims to analyze the differences between these two attitudes and how they can be applied in the lives of today's youth. Using a literature review method, this study examines the importance of action and contemplation in the spiritual and daily lives of young people. The results of the study show that these two attitudes complement each other. Both have strong relevance in providing guidance for the younger generation to achieve a balance between dynamic social activity and deep spiritual experience. This offers important insight into how young people can find harmony in a life full of demands and challenges while maintaining their closeness to God.
