Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a major challenge to public health development in Indonesia. Based on Nutritional Status Monitoring (PSG) data conducted in 2018, the prevalence of malnutrition in children under five in Indonesia was 15.2%. The target to be achieved by 2024 is to reduce stunting prevalence to 14% and below the WHO standard of 20%. Teba Bunuk Village is a village in West Kota Agung District, Tanggamus Regency, with a diverse population with diverse livelihoods based on the region's potential, particularly agriculture and plantations. Purpose: To provide information and education to the community on how to prevent and detect stunting in children. Method: A stunting prevention outreach activity was held on August 12, 2025, at the Pekon Teba Bunuk GSG. It involved 62 individuals, representing the target groups: families with children aged 1-5 years, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. The socialization activities were delivered using interactive lecture methods and question and answer sessions, in the form of material to increase family knowledge about stunting and how to prevent it. Results: Demonstrates increased public understanding of stunting and the importance of balanced nutrition, as well as positive acceptance of corn pudding as a healthy local food alternative. The corn pudding demonstration was well-received due to its readily available ingredients, affordable price, and ability to process nutritious food as a preventative measure for stunting. Conclusion: Interactive outreach activities and demonstrations of processed food production increased public knowledge about stunting and its prevention, while also introducing corn pudding as a nutritious local food alternative. Nutrition education combined with hands-on practice made it easier for the community to understand and implement effectively. Suggestion: Similar programs need to be implemented sustainably, involving health workers, village governments, and integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres to strengthen stunting prevention efforts at the community level. This program is expected to be the first step in fostering collective awareness to reduce stunting prevalence in rural areas. Keywords: Corn pudding; Nutrition education; Prevention; Stunting Pendahuluan: Stunting merupakan salah satu permasalahan gizi kronis yang hingga saat ini masih menjadi tantangan besar dalam pembangunan kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Berdasarkan data Pemantauan Status Gizi (PSG) yang dilakukan pada tahun 2018 prevalensi balita kekurangan gizi di Indonesia adalah sebesar 15.2%. Target yang harus dicapai pada tahun 2024 adalah menurunkan prevalensi stunting menjadi 14% dan standar WHO di bawah 20%. Pekon Teba Bunuk merupakan desa yang berada di Kecamatan Kota Agung Barat, Kabupaten Tanggamus dengan komposisi masyarakatnya memiliki sumber mata pencaharian yang beragam berdasarkan potensi wilayahnya yaitu pertanian dan perkebunan. Tujuan: Untuk memberikan informasi dan edukasi kepada masyarakat tentang bagaimana pencegahan serta mendeteksi anak agar tidak terjadi stunting. Metode: Pelaksanaan kegiatan sosialisasi pencegahan stunting dilaksanakan pada tanggal 12 Agustus 2025 di GSG Pekon Teba Bunuk. Melibatkan 62 orang yang merupakan kelompok sasaran pada kegiatan ini, yaitu keluarga dengan anak usia 1-5 tahun, ibu hamil dan ibu menyusui. Kegiatan sosialisasi disampaikan dengan metode ceramah interaktif dan sesi tanya jawab, berupa materi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan keluarga mengenai stunting dan bagaimana pencegahannya. Hasil: Menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai stunting dan pentingnya gizi seimbang, serta penerimaan positif terhadap puding jagung sebagai alternatif pangan lokal yang sehat. Demonstrasi puding jagung diterima baik karena bahan mudah didapat, harga terjangkau, dan dapat diolah sebagai makanan bergizi sebagai langkah pencegahan stunting. Simpulan: Kegiatan penyuluhan dengan interaktif dan demonstrasi pembuatan makanan olahan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang stunting dan pencegahannya, sekaligus memperkenalkan puding jagung sebagai alternatif pangan lokal bergizi. Edukasi gizi yang dikombinasikan dengan praktik langsung menjadikan masyarakat lebih mudah memahami dan efektif menerapkannya. Saran: Program serupa perlu dilakukan secara berkelanjutan dengan melibatkan tenaga kesehatan, pemerintah desa, dan kader posyandu untuk memperkuat upaya pencegahan stunting di tingkat masyarakat. Program ini diharapkan mampu menjadi langkah awal dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran kolektif untuk menurunkan prevalensi stunting di wilayah pedesaan.

Abstract

Scabies is a contagious parasitic skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis, characterized by nocturnal pruritus, erythematous papules, and burrows. Transmission occurs readily in households and communities with close contact and poor hygiene. Although scabies is a common public health problem in Indonesia, clinical documentation of household transmission and integrated management strategies in primary care settings remains limited. This study aims to describe the clinical presentation, transmission pathway, and therapeutic management of scabies in a household setting, highlighting the importance of integrated treatment and hygiene measures to prevent reinfestation. A 33‑year‑old male presented to Labuhan Ratu Public Health Center, Bandar Lampung, with severe itching localized to the wrists, interdigital spaces, and genital region. Clinical examination revealed erythematous papules and burrows consistent with scabies. Diagnosis was established clinically based on cardinal signs and a history of close contact with his son, who had similar symptoms. No laboratory investigations were performed. Management included topical 5% permethrin applied according to protocol, oral cetirizine for symptomatic relief, vitamin B complex supplementation, and simultaneous treatment of all family members. Environmental interventions included washing clothes and bed linen with hot water and reinforcing personal hygiene practices. The patient demonstrated clinical improvement following therapy, with resolution of pruritus and regression of lesions. Family members treated simultaneously also showed recovery, and no reinfestation was reported during follow‑up. Vital signs and systemic examinations remained within normal limits, confirming localized disease. This case underscores the ease of household transmission of scabies and the necessity of integrated management strategies in primary care. The novelty of this report lies in emphasizing a holistic approach—combining pharmacological therapy with family‑wide treatment and hygiene reinforcement—as a practical model for scabies control in resource‑limited settings. Such documentation contributes to global understanding of scabies management and highlights the role of community health centers in addressing neglected parasitic diseases.
