Abstract

The rapid growth of halal tourism as a global industry, fueled by the increasing Muslim population and high demand for sharia-compliant travel services, highlights the sector's significant potential for enhancing economic resilience. However, scientific studies directly linking halal tourism to economic resilience remain limited and poorly integrated. This study aims to address this gap by employing a bibliometric approach to map the development, trends, and emerging research themes in this field. Using a descriptive-quantitative method, secondary data were collected from the Google Scholar and Scopus databases, covering publications from 2015 to 2025. Analysis was conducted using Publish or Perish and VOSviewer software to trace patterns of author collaboration, keyword co-occurrence, top citations, and thematic evolution over time. The study's results indicate a significant upward trend in the number of publications, particularly after 2021, reflecting a growing academic interest in the role of halal tourism in fostering inclusive economic recovery. Bibliometric visualization reveals that initial research concentrated on socio-cultural aspects, such as religious tourism, MSMEs, and cultural heritage. However, in recent years, the focus has shifted toward macroeconomic issues, including regional economic resilience and demand-side strategies. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating halal tourism strategies into sustainable and resilient economic development policies, while also opening up avenues for further research in the future.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service program aims to enhance public awareness of the strategic contribution of the Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBHCHT) to regional economic development and community welfare. The activity also responds to persistent challenges in DBHCHT management, including issues of transparency, effectiveness, and governance in regions affected by the circulation of illegal cigarettes. Research Methodology: The program was delivered through a live talk show on Kebumen TV in collaboration with the local government and the Customs and Excise Office. The session was attended live by 30 participants and subsequently disseminated through YouTube and Kebumen TV rebroadcasts, allowing broader reach and sustained access. Results: The socialization indicated that although DBHCHT carries substantial potential to support welfare enhancement, public health services, labour empowerment, and law-enforcement initiatives, its implementation remains suboptimal. Key constraints include limited transparency in fund allocation, inadequate community involvement, low absorption capacity, and persistent issues linked to illegal cigarette circulation. Conclusions: Strengthening governance, increasing public literacy, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration are crucial to optimizing DBHCHT utilization. Limitations: The television broadcast format limits real-time monitoring of participants’ understanding, engagement level, and feedback, thereby constraining the depth of evaluation that can be conducted. Contributions: This activity provides the public with a clearer understanding of DBHCHT’s strategic role, promotes a transparent and participatory model of fund management, and encourages active collaboration to maximize DBHCHT’s impact on regional economic development and community welfare.

Abstract

Labuan Bajo, designated as a super-priority tourism destination in Indonesia, possesses substantial potential for the development of culture-based tourism and the promotion of local products, particularly Manggarai coffee, which is deeply rooted in local traditions. Despite this potential, coffee-based products and experiences have not yet been systematically integrated into tourism offerings, highlighting the need for structured community service initiatives to strengthen coffee micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This program was implemented through two main stages: identification and planning. The identification stage involved field observations and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with coffee MSME actors, local government representatives, travel agents, and community members to map opportunities and challenges in developing coffee-based tourism. The planning stage focused on designing an integrated coffee tourism package, comprising a Coffee Plantation Tour Plan as an educational and cultural tourism experience that introduces visitors to coffee cultivation processes and Manggarai cultural values, as well as a Coffee Souvenir Shopping Plan to position local coffee as a flagship regional product. The results indicate that these planned concepts have the potential to enhance Labuan Bajo’s tourism attractiveness, increase the economic value of local coffee MSMEs, and reinforce local cultural identity. This community service activity has produced an initial design that can serve as a foundation for the development of coffee-based tourism, contributing to inclusive and sustainable local economic growth. Furthermore, future development should advance toward pilot implementation and impact evaluation, supported by strengthened stakeholder partnerships, capacity building, and digital tourism integration to improve market reach and global competitiveness.

Abstract

Java Island, Indonesia’s economic hub, faces challenges from a demographic shift toward an aging society, marked by a growing elderly population. This trend raises demand for healthcare services and pressures local government finances, especially in managing health decentralization funds. This study analyzes the impact of aging on fund realization in six provinces during 2015–2024 using panel data. Results show the elderly population has a positive and significant effect, while life expectancy and total population have significant negative effects. The old-age dependency ratio is not significant. Overall, all variables influence fund realization, emphasizing the need for adaptive health policies.
