ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Vitamin B6 berfungsi sebagai kofaktor dalam lebih dari 100 reaksi enzimatik, dan berperan pada sintesis neurotransmitter seperti gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), serotonin, dan dopamine sehingga berpotensi mempengaruhi fungsi otak yang berkaitan dengan konsentrasi, daya ingat, dan performa akademik pada mahasiswa terutama dalam ujian blok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh vitamin B6 terhadap nilai ujian blok mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tadulako Angkatan 2023. Metode : Penelitian kuasi-eksperimental dengan Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik random sampling, kemudian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok dengan perlakuan berbeda. Analisis data dilakukan melalui uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan Uji T Sampel Independen. Hasil : Total sampel adalah 36 mahasiswa yang dibagi 2 kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen-diberikan vitamin B6 100 mg per hari selama 3 minggu 5 hari dan kelompok kontrol-tidak diberikan vitamin B6. Didapatkan nilai rata-rata ujian blok pada kelompok eksperimen adalah 50,19; kelompok kontrol adalah 42,63; dan nilai signifikansi 0,006 antar kelompok. Kesimpulan: Suplementasi vitamin B6 dapat meningkatkan performa akademik mahasiswa kedokteran. Namun, penelitian ini memiliki keterbatasan, yaitu tidak adanya penilaian awal (pre-test) sehingga kondisi awal sampel tidak diketahui, serta terdapat banyak faktor yang tidak dapat dikendalikan yang mungkin memengaruhi performa akademik sampel penelitian. ABSTRACT Background: Vitamin B6 functions as a cofactor in over 100 enzymatic reactions and plays a role in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), serotonin, and dopamine. These neurotransmitters have the potential to influence brain functions related to concentration, memory, and academic performance, particularly in medical students during block examinations. This study aimed to examine the effect of vitamin B6 supplementation on the block exam scores of medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tadulako University, Class of 2023.Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study using a posttest-only control group design. Samples were selected using random sampling and divided into two groups receiving different treatments. Data analysis included normality testing, homogeneity testing, and independent sample t-tests.Results: A total of 36 students participated in the study, divided into two groups: the experimental group received 100 mg of vitamin B6 daily for 3 weeks and 5 days, while the control group received no supplementation. The average block exam score in the experimental group was 50.19, compared to 42.63 in the control group, with a statistically significant difference between groups (p = 0.006).Conclusion: Vitamin B6 supplementation may enhance the academic performance of medical students. However, this study has limitations, including the absence of a baseline (pre-test) assessment, which prevents evaluation of initial conditions, and the presence of various uncontrolled factors that may have influenced the academic performance of the participants.
