Abstract

This study aims to analyze the emotions of the character Moriguchi Yuko in Minato Kanae's novel Confessions. The analysis of this study will answer the research questions and objectives, which are to describe the emotions of joy, anger, sadness, fear, hatred, surprise, and love. This research will illustrate how emotional expressions function to create a realistic impression that can be felt by the audience in literary works, especially novels. The research method used to collect and analyze the research data is a qualitative descriptive method, which allows the researcher to describe the emotional expressions of the seven emotions studied. With this research method, the researcher can describe the research results on how the forms of emotions convey happy emotions, angry emotions, sad emotions, fearful emotions, hateful emotions, surprised emotions, and loving emotions in the novel. The research results indicate that the form of emotion of the character Moriguchi Yuko in the novel Confessions by Minato Kanae tends toward the form of emotion that conveys a real impression in the novel. This is evident in the quotations found in the form of happy emotions 14 quotations, angry emotions 24 quotations, sad emotions 22 quotations, fearful emotions 14 quotations, hateful emotions 23 quotations, surprised emotions 29 quotations, and loving emotions 21 quotations. In other words, the total number of emotional expressions found in this novel is 147 quotes.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an inquiry-based short story writing learning module that is valid, practical, and effective for use by 11th-grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Kota Jambi. This research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research subjects included linguistic experts, content feasibility experts, design experts, an Indonesian language teacher, and 11th-grade students. Data collection instruments consisted of validation questionnaires, practicality questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the content feasibility validation obtained a percentage of 92%, content presentation validation 84.62%, linguistic validation 100%, and graphic design validation 97.14%, all categorized as highly valid. The practicality test showed an average teacher response percentage of 88% and a student response of 85.92%, both categorized as highly practical. The effectiveness test based on student learning outcomes showed that 100% of the students achieved the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM ≥ 70), with an average score of 84.39, indicating that the module is highly effective. Therefore, this inquiry-based learning module is highly feasible to be used as teaching material to improve students' short story writing skills

Abstract

This study aims to describe perlocutionary speech acts in Webseries Radit, which was broadcast on Raditya Dika's YouTube channel in 2021. This study examines how language functions in digital interactions, focusing on six perlocutionary functions according to Leech (1993): persuading, encouraging, frightening, comforting, deceiving, and entertaining. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with pragmatic analysis. Data were obtained from 17 episodes through listening techniques and recording relevant utterances. The results showed 77 perlocutionary data with a predominance of persuading and encouraging functions, confirming that persuasive strategies are more frequently used in interactions between characters. This finding confirms the role of perlocutionary effects in digital communication and opens up opportunities for further research on web series with different characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of interrogative sentences in the novel *3726 MDPL* by Nurwina Sari. The study focuses on four types of interrogative sentences: standard, rhetorical, clarification/confirmation, and indirect (disguised) interrogative sentences. The research seeks to determine how these interrogative sentence forms are utilized within the novel to construct meaning and facilitate interaction among characters. A descriptive-qualitative method was employed. The data consist of excerpts containing interrogative sentences from the novel *3726 MDPL*; data collection involved reading, note-taking, literature review, and categorization, while data analysis utilized content analysis. The findings reveal that all four forms of interrogative sentences—standard, rhetorical, clarification/confirmation, and indirect—are present in the novel. Specifically, the analysis shows a prevalence of standard interrogative sentences: 72 instances of standard interrogative sentences, 25 rhetorical interrogative sentences, 1 instance of clarification/confirmation interrogative sentences, and 42 indirect interrogative sentences, resulting in a total dataset of 140 excerpts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the distinctive characteristics of idiolectal language variation (word choice), including its use on social media platforms such as TikTok. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of idiolect (word choice) used in culinary vlog posts on the @NANDAGABUT_ account during the period from July to October 2024 and to analyze the factors that influence them. The issue addressed in this study is the emergence of new words without a clear semantic basis, which has the potential to cause misunderstandings in communication. This research employs a qualitative approach using the extralingual equivalent method. Data were collected through observation and non-participatory observation (simak bebas libat cakap/SBLC). The data in this study consist of primary data in the form of word utterances categorized as idiolects (word choices) found in posts on the @NANDAGABUT_ TikTok social media account. The data source was posts from the @NANDAGABUT_ TikTok social media account from July to October 2024. The results show that the idiolects used in the @NANDAGABUT_ TikTok videos are influenced by aspects of time, place, socio-cultural environment, communication situation, and the digital media used. This demonstrates the close relationship between language variation and socio-cultural dynamics on social media. This study suggests that people should be wiser and more aware when using expressive language that develops on social media, without neglecting the principles of proper and correct Indonesian. Thus, language can remain an effective means of communication while also serving as a reflection of dynamic cultural identity.
