Abstract

This research related to diction in poetry collections shows that the author's creativity is very sharp and detailed in using linguistic devices that can beautify the work itself. It is proven by the efforts to empower poetry or rhyme that it is very productive and complex, almost all the poems contained in this poetry collection contain very interesting rhymes so that the aesthetic effect is very well maintained and is able to show the individual characteristics of the author. The beautiful effect in this collection of poetry is apart from the use of various rhyme patterns as well as the way the author displays the number of lines in each stanza. Each stanza in a poem does not always consist of four lines (like most poems) but these vary widely. Apart from the way the rhyme is arranged, the uniqueness of the lines in the poetry verses by the author can be seen from the naming of the title of each poem. The poetry titles are all related to the components that surround the dangdut koplo group community, some are related to the name of the singer, the name of the musician, the guitar, the drummer, the flute, and so on.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the thoughts of the main characters through the perspective of George Herbert Mead's symbolic interactionism, specifically impulse, perception, manipulation, and consummation. This research employs a qualitative method. The data sources are sentences or dialogues of the main characters in the novel. The findings indicate that the characters' thoughts in the novel demonstrate symbolic thinking abilities in their interactions, particularly in the main characters, Maura and Aska. The symbolic thought interaction highlights the strength of consideration by taking into account the cause-and-effect relationships related to each character's actions. In the symbolic concept of mind, the results show that Maura is the most prominent character as the subject in the novel, while Aska functions as the object.

Abstract

This English debate training program aimed to equip students from MAN 4 Jombang with basic knowledge of high-school-level English debate and to enhance their ability to articulate arguments. By integrating the AI ??tool ELSA Speak into the training process, students were able to practice independently. The program consisted of four face-to-face sessions, involving 18 students. The training stages included an introductory session, a pre-test, the training itself, the implementation of AI technology (ELSA Speak), and a phase for mentoring and evaluation (post-test). The results demonstrated an improvement in the students' understanding of English debate and their ability to deliver arguments; furthermore, the students participated actively throughout the training process.

Abstract

Novel Bek karya Mahfud Ikhwan menyajikan kisah kehidupan tokoh utama yang berpedoman pada peran bek dalam permainan sepak bola. Kehidupan yang jauh dari orang tua membuat tokoh tumbuh dengan cara seorang bek. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tindakan sosial pada tokoh utama dalam novel Bek karya Mahfud Ikhwan berdasarkan perspektif Max Weber. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan sosiologi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Bek karya Mahfud Ikhwan. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, atau kutipan dalam novel Bek karya Mahfud Ikhwan mengenai tindakan sosial yang dialami tokoh utama bernama Moh. Isnani Anshori. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tokoh utama dalam novel Bek karya Mahfud Ikhwan memuat empat tipe tindakan sosial, yaitu rasionalitas alat-tujuan, rasionalitas nilai, tindakan afektual, dan tindakan tradisional. Penelitian ini mengungkap tindakan sosial tokoh yang diharapkan memperkaya pemahaman terhadap kajian sosiologi sastra.
