Abstract

The Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri Surabaya (PPNS), through its Welding Engineering Study Program, organized a Welding Inspector Training program certified by the Badan Nasional Sertifikasi Profesi (BNSP). This initiative represents a strategic effort to enhance the quality of human resources in the maritime industry through a vocational education–industry link and match model. The program is open to students, alumni, and industry professionals to meet the growing demand for nationally and globally certified personnel. The training was conducted collaboratively by PPNS and the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) PPNS, employing a Competency-Based Training (CBT) approach that integrates intensive theoretical instruction, laboratory practice, industry mentoring, and a final competency assessment. With a total duration of 328 hours, participants were trained in visual inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and welding metallurgy analysis. The results indicate a 100% pass rate, underscoring the effectiveness of this collaborative model in meeting BNSP certification standards. Furthermore, the program strengthens the tripartite relationship among educational institutions, industry, and certification bodies, while also serving as a best practice for implementing TVET 4.0 and the Link and Match 8+i Framework in vocational education in Indonesia.
