Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat budaya literasi anak melalui penerapan model play date sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan partisipatif. Sasaran kegiatan ini adalah anak-anak usia 5–10 tahun di Karasidenan Madiun. Model play date dilaksanakan melalui serangkaian kegiatan membaca bersama, membaca nyaring (read aloud), permainan berbasis cerita, serta diskusi ringan yang melibatkan orang tua dan pendamping. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama tiga kali setiap akhir pekan selama bulan September dengan metode pendampingan langsung. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan minat baca anak, kemampuan memahami isi bacaan, serta antusiasme mereka dalam kegiatan literasi. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran orang tua akan pentingnya dukungan lingkungan keluarga dalam menumbuhkan budaya literasi sejak dini. Dengan demikian, model play date dapat menjadi alternatif strategi efektif dalam penguatan budaya literasi anak di masyarakat. Kata kunci: budaya literasi, anak, play date, Madiun This community service activity aims to strengthen children's literacy culture through the implementation of the Play Date model as a fun, interactive, and participatory learning approach. The target participants are children aged 5–10 years in the Karesidenan Madiun area, which includes several districts with diverse social backgrounds. The Play Date model was carried out through a series of activities such as shared reading, story-based games, read aloud, and light discussions involving parents and facilitators. The program was conducted over one month through several direct mentoring sessions. The results showed an increase in children's reading interest and active engagement in literacy activities, as well as improved parental awareness of the importance of creating a family environment that supports literacy habits. This activity demonstrates that the Play Date model is effective in strengthening children's literacy culture in the community and in fostering collaboration among families, schools, and local communities to cultivate a love of literacy from an early age.
