Abstract

Abstract

Plastics and plastic-based products are increasingly used for various purposes alongside technological, industrial, and population growth because they are lightweight, strong, flexible, easily molded, corrosion-resistant, easy to color, effective thermal and electrical insulators, and relatively affordable. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of governmental mitigation efforts in addressing waste-related threats through plastic waste management. The results indicate that Indonesia generates approximately 3.2 million tons of plastic waste entering the oceans annually, positioning it as the second-largest contributor globally after China. Consequently, Indonesia is the largest contributor of plastic waste in Southeast Asia, with plastic materials requiring hundreds of years to degrade. Excessive plastic waste adversely affects human health and the environment and may eventually lead to hazards such as flooding as well as air and soil pollution. Therefore, mitigation through effective plastic waste management is necessary to reduce the risks associated with excessive waste. Such mitigation may be implemented through technological, social, economic, cultural, and institutional approaches. Technological approaches include the application of pyrolysis, hydrothermal methods, and the use of environmentally friendly raw materials. Social and cultural approaches encompass public awareness activities and community engagement. The circular economy framework may also be applied as an economic approach. The institutional approach involves the participation of central and local governments in implementing existing policies and regulations, as well as formulating new regulatory measures aimed at reducing plastic waste.

Abstract

Grobogan Regency is one of the regions prone to flooding due to its geographical conditions as a lowland area, high rainfall, land-use change, and suboptimal drainage systems, which have caused significant social, economic, and environmental losses. This study aims to develop flood vulnerability mapping in Grobogan Regency through the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and scoring techniques using parameters such as topography, rainfall, land use, soil type, and river buffers to provide more comprehensive disaster mitigation recommendations. A descriptive quantitative method was employed by integrating GIS through overlay, scoring, and weighting techniques applied to parameters including topography, soil type, land cover, river buffers, and rainfall to generate a flood vulnerability map for Grobogan Regency. The results indicate that the GIS method with overlay and scoring techniques is effective in identifying flood vulnerability levels, with 31% of the study area categorized as highly vulnerable, 55% as vulnerable, and only 14% as safe, thereby serving as a basis for spatial planning and disaster mitigation in Grobogan Regency. The study highlights that flood vulnerability in the area is a result of complex interactions between topography, soil type, land use, and river infrastructure conditions, proving that GIS with overlay and scoring techniques is effective as a reference for prioritizing mitigation. Future studies should include field verification, harmonization of spatial projection systems from the outset, and stronger theoretical foundations for each parameter to produce more comprehensive and applicable mapping results in supporting flood disaster management strategies.

Abstract

The transformation of the digital economy has become an important strategy in enhancing the competitiveness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) amid economic dynamics and shifts in consumer behavior. However, the adoption of the digital economy by MSMEs still faces various challenges, particularly related to innovative factors, perceptions, and the creation of sustainable added value. This study aims to analyze the influence of creativity, innovation, perceived benefits, and perceived ease of use on the digital economy adoption by MSMEs, as well as the impact of such adoption on the performance of MSMEs in Samarinda City. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method directed at MSME actors, analyzed through a structural model to examine direct and indirect relationships between variables. The study's conceptual framework integrates the Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Technology Acceptance Model, and Value Added Model to explain the mechanisms of adoption and the creation of economic value. The results indicate that creativity, innovation, perceived benefits, and perceived ease of use significantly influence the adoption of digital economy practices by MSMEs. Furthermore, the adoption of the digital economy has been proven to have a positive and significant impact on the performance of SMEs, as well as acting as a mediating variable that bridges the influence of adoption determinant factors on business performance. These findings confirm that digital economy adoption not only functions as a technological tool but also as a strategic mechanism in creating added value and enhancing SME competitiveness. This study provides theoretical contributions through the development of an integrated SME digital economy adoption model, as well as practical contributions for the formulation of policies and SME assistance strategies in facing the digital economic transformation, particularly in the buffer zones of the Nusantara Capital Region.
