Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is one of the leading commodities that supports the national economy. Despite its numerous benefits, oil palm expansion also presents a number of challenges. The government requires the preparation of an Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) as an environmental management instrument. However, the effectiveness of AMDAL remains questionable. This study aims to analyze various literature related to the environmental impacts of oil palm plantations and analyze the role and effectiveness of AMDAL in mitigating these impacts. The literature review method uses a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were obtained from relevant scientific journals, books, and government reports from the past 10 years. The literature review was conducted on 10 relevant articles. The results of the literature review indicate that oil palm plantations provide economic and social benefits, but also have negative impacts on the environment and local culture. AMDAL serves as a mitigation instrument whose effectiveness depends on implementation, monitoring, and community participation. Therefore, strengthening policies and sustainable management are necessary to balance the economy, environment, and social welfare.

Abstract

RNA virus infections pose a significant challenge to vertebrate health due to their high mutation rates and capacity for rapid evolution. This review aims to synthesize the understanding of the central role of the adaptive immune system in recognizing, controlling, and eliminating RNA virus infections. Through a narrative literature review approach, an in-depth analysis of the two main pillars of adaptive immunity—humoral and cell-mediated immunity—was conducted. The findings indicate that humoral immunity, mediated by B cells and antibodies, is crucial for neutralizing extracellular virus particles, thereby preventing viral attachment and entry into host cells. In parallel, cell-mediated immunity, driven by cytotoxic T cells (CD8+), is essential for eliminating already infected cells, while helper T cells (CD4+) act as key coordinators that regulate the entire response. A fundamental advantage of this response is the formation of immunological memory, which provides long-term protection and serves as the basis for vaccine efficacy. Nevertheless, the immune system faces a continuous challenge from viral evasion strategies, such as antigenic drift, which fuels an evolutionary arms race. A comprehensive understanding of this dynamic interaction is vital for the development of more effective next-generation vaccines and antiviral therapies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on high school students’ Biology learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, involving 120 students divided into an experimental class (PBL) and a control class (conventional learning). Learning outcomes data were collected through tests that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and independent t-tests. The results indicate that the average learning outcomes of the experimental class were higher than those of the control class, with a significant difference (p < 0.05). In addition to improving conceptual understanding, PBL enhanced students’ motivation, critical thinking skills, and collaboration abilities. Therefore, PBL is concluded to be an effective learning strategy for improving high school students’ Biology learning outcomes.

Abstract

Kayu Aro is one of the sub-districts in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province, which is known to have a mountainous area with suburban land that is very suitable for tea cultivation. Most of the tea produced is still sold in the form of standard black tea or green tea. In fact, there is great potential to develop more diverse processed tea products, such as kombucha. Kombucha is a probiotic drink that can boost the immune system and help fight various diseases caused by microorganisms. This activity aims to introduce the benefits of kombucha to PKK women in Pauh Menang Village as an alternative healthy drink that they can consume every day for a healthy diet and a better lifestyle and be used as a profitable business opportunity and provide opportunities for PKK women to learn to utilize local raw materials available around them. The methods used are Observation, Counseling, Direct Practice and Evaluation. Based on the results of the post-test, this community service activity succeeded in attracting the interest of PKK women and increasing the understanding and skills of PKK women in Pauh Menang Village regarding kombucha and becoming facilitators for the community in promoting healthy living.
