Abstract

Digital transformation in archive management has become a strategic necessity to support the effectiveness of administrative governance and the accountability of public organizations in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, including in the education and religious sectors. In response to this demand, the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Sidoarjo Regency has implemented the SRIKANDI application as an integrated dynamic archiving information system. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SRIKANDI application and identify the challenges encountered in the digital archive transformation process. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results indicate that the implementation of SRIKANDI significantly improves archive management efficiency, accelerates administrative processes, and strengthens institutional accountability and transparency. Theoretically, these findings contribute to the development of studies in educational management and public administration by emphasizing that the success of digital archive transformation is determined not only by technological aspects but also by organizational readiness, human resource capacity, leadership support, and the cultivation of digital work culture. This study enriches the perspective of information system-based educational management by positioning digital archive management as a strategic instrument in enhancing the quality of governance in government institutions.

Abstract

To analyze the transformation of Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren) in the digital era, assess the contribution of digital technology to Islamic boarding schools, and propose the ideal model for digital Islamic boarding schools. The study uses a systematic literature review method utilizing the "Publish or Perish" application. Keywords such as "Pesantren Digital “or” Pesantren Technology “or” Pesantren Virtual “or” Islamic Boarding School Digital “or” Islamic Boarding School Technology “or” and Islamic Boarding School Virtual” were searched in the global indexing database "Scopus," followed by PRISMA data analysis. The digital transformation model in Islamic boarding schools includes changes in management, administration, learning, and digital skill development for students. The contribution of digital technology is diverse, ranging from improving administration and management, increasing access to digital-based learning, strengthening interactions between Islamic boarding schools, alumni, and the community, developing student skills in utilizing digital tools, and facilitating the spread of Islamic preaching (rahmatan lil alamin). This study implies that integrating digital technologies into Islamic boarding schools offers significant opportunities to improve educational practices and administrative efficiency. This study provides a new perspective on the ideal model of digital Islamic boarding schools using Giddens' perspective of Giddens' four elements.

Abstract

The transformation of Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions from institutes into universities represents a strategic policy that extends beyond administrative restructuring to encompass institutional identity, governance, and socio-religious functions. This study aims to analyze the transformation process of PTKIS in East Java and examine how institutional distinction, knowledge integration, and religious moderation are developed as strategic pillars of post-transformation institutional development. A descriptive qualitative approach with a multi-case study design was employed, involving three universities: Universitas Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo, Universitas Ibrahimy Situbondo, and Universitas Zainul Hasan Genggong Probolinggo. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with university leaders and transformation teams, and document analysis of institutional policies and government regulations. Data were analyzed iteratively using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. The findings reveal that institutional transformation is a multidimensional process comprising organizational restructuring, governance reform, and cultural adaptation rather than a mere change of institutional status. The three universities developed different forms of institutional distinction rooted in pesantren values, while simultaneously integrating Islamic and general sciences through interdisciplinary curricula and strengthening religious moderation through academic, student, and community engagement programs. More importantly, this study proposes a Pesantren-Based University Transformation Model, demonstrating that sustainable institutional transformation follows a sequential pathway: Institutional Transformation,  Institutional Distinction, Knowledge Integration, Religious Moderation, Academic Competitiveness, and Social Harmony. This model constitutes the principal theoretical contribution of the study by explaining how pesantren values function as strategic organizational resources for strengthening institutional competitiveness without diminishing Islamic identity.
