Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the extent to which the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) implemented by PT. Golden Great Borneo (GGB) in 2024 aligns with the actual needs of communities in the Ring 1 area, specifically Prabumenang and Banjarsari Villages, East Merapi District, Lahat Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research combines analysis of official program documents and field observations with a structured Likert-scale survey involving 40 purposively selected beneficiaries. The study assesses eight core domains mandated in PPM guidelines: education, health, real income, economic independence, socio-religious-cultural aspects, environment, community institutions, and infrastructure. Findings show that the program received moderate appreciation from the community, with average perception scores ranging from 3.5 to 3.7. While education, health, and infrastructure were positively valued, key issues remain in benefit equity, long-term sustainability, and participatory implementation. The study contributes a novel, integrative assessment model combining community perception data with program alignment analysis. It concludes that future PPM efforts should adopt a more impact-oriented, community-driven approach, particularly by strengthening environmental programs, preventive health initiatives, post-training support, and local institutional capacity to ensure sustainable development in mining-affected regions.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the management of coal quality control at seams A, B, and C in the Pit and ROM area of PT Priamanaya Energi Lahat, South Sumatra. Coal quality control is crucial to keep product specifications in accordance with company standards, especially in terms of ash, sulfur, and calorific value. The research method used is quantitative descriptive, with data collection techniques through direct observation, informal interviews, documentation, and laboratory data analysis. The quality control activities observed included channel sampling, installation of barrier stakes, visual inspection of coal characteristics, and coal cleaning activities using excavators to clean coal from impurities directly in the pit area. After the coal is transferred to the ROM, quality control is continued through stack separation based on seam quality, where seams A and B are stacked in the ROM of block A, while seam C which has a higher sulfur content is placed in the ROM of block C. This process also includes handpicking, resizing activitiescoal measuring >30 cm, as well as new dumping monitoring to prevent contamination between piles. The results of the analysis showed that seams A and B were of better quality than seam C, with lower ash and sulfur content and higher caloric values. Quality control management from Pit to ROM has proven to be effective in maintaining coal quality, especially when each stage of supervision is carried out based on the characteristics of each seam. Pile separation, corrective actions in the field, and visual supervision are key in preventing mixing and degrading coal quality.

Abstract

The occurrence of mine acid water cannot be left unchecked because it has a negative impact on the surrounding community and the environment, both directly and indirectly. Therefore, the prevention and management of mine acid water is carried out by settling and neutralizing mine acid water using Lime and Chemical Cationic Coagulant. The purpose of this study is to find out the process of mining acid water management using the active method used at PT LCL. The result of this study is to determine the stages of mining acid water management starting from AAT pumping, chemical cationic coagulant, inlet channel pH measurement, inlet channel liming, checking the color and pH of outlet channel water if needed, as well as sedimentation, and then if the pH is in accordance with the environmental quality standards, mine acid water can be flowed to the receiving water body of the Penimir River. The dosage of lime and Chemical Cationic Coagulant used varies, according to the condition of the water in the KPL. If the pH of the water decreases, it will be sprinkled with lime, if the water is cloudy, chemical cationic coagulant will be sprinkled for precipitation. The pH of the water discharged into the river is already pH 6.
