Abstract

Objective:  This study aims to examine contemporary issues regarding career women from the perspective of Qur'anic interpretation. The main focus is to examine Quraish Shihab's views in Tafsir Al-Misbah on women working in the public sphere, as well as analyze them through the theory of double movement developed by Fazlur Rahman. Theoretical framework:  Using Fazlur Rahman's theory of double movement, which emphasizes historical analysis of verse and its reinterpretation in contemporary social contexts, to understand the role of women in Islam in a relevant way. Literature review: Previous studies are still dominant in normative and fiqh. This study fills the gap by combining Fazlur Rahman's theory and contemporary interpretation of Quraish Shihab in discussing career women thematically. Methods:  Using a qualitative method based on literature study, with the main source of Tafsir Al-Misbah and literature on the theory of double movement. The analysis was carried out in a descriptive-analytical manner. Result:  The results of the study show that both Quraish Shihab and Fazlur Rahman support women's right to have a career and contribute to the public sphere, while maintaining Islamic Sharia values. In his commentary, Quraish Shihab emphasizes that Islam does not prohibit women from working, as long as they adhere to the moral and ethical principles set by the religion. Implications: This contextual interpretation can be a theological foundation in supporting gender equality and the participation of Muslim women in the workforce. Novelty: Integrating the theory of double movement with the interpretation of Quraish Shihab, specifically in the issue of career women, offers a new approach in the study of contemporary thematic interpretation.

Abstract

Objective:  This study aims to explore the implementation of tahfidz and tahsin programs at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, as well as identify strategies to improve the quality of memorization and recitation of the Qur'an through the optimization of dormitory facilities and the implementation of Saturday Islamic Boarding School activities (Pesat). Theoretical framework: This research is based on Qur'anic learning theory that emphasizes the integration of tahsin and tahfidz as part of Islamic character education, as well as kinesthetic and repetitive approaches such as talaqqi, tikrār, and muroja'ah to support successful memorization. Literature review:  The literature review covers the urgency of tahfidz and tahsin in Islamic education, the effectiveness of methods such as talaqqi and tasmi', the role of curriculum and facilities, and the importance of tahsin as a basis for correct memorization. The literature also discusses common reading errors and their corrective strategies. Methods:   The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study method. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, which are analyzed interactively through reduction, presentation, and conclusions drawn. The validity of the data was tested by triangulation and member check. Result:  The results of the study show that the tahfidz and tahsin programs at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta have great potential but have not been fully optimized. Two flagship programs were developed, namely the boarding school dormitory program and Pesat (Saturday Islamic Boarding School), which aims to improve the quality and quantity of memorization. It was also found that some students did not have the correct reading skills, so they needed to learn first before entering the tahfidz stage. Implications:  This study shows the need for collaboration between schools, teachers, and policymakers in designing the tahfidz-tahsin curriculum and optimizing dormitory facilities to support intensive Qur'an learning. Novelty:  This study presents a school-based Qur'an coaching model with the integration of tahsin as a prerequisite for tahfidz, utilizing the boarding system and the Pesat program as effective learning innovations.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine in depth the verses of the Qur'an related to the Islamic economic system, especially regarding the prohibition of usury, zakat obligations, the principle of wealth distribution, and the ethics of muamalah, as well as to explore the relevance of the content of these verses to the contemporary Islamic financial system. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework used departs from the economic principles of the Qur'an, which emphasize justice, transparency, and partiality to the weak, by integrating normative-moral approaches and modern social contexts. Literature review: Previous literature has discussed many Islamic financial products and practices from legal and technical perspectives, but still lacks an explicit link to the comprehensive interpretation of Qur'anic verses. This research bridges this gap by comparing the thought of classical mufassir such as Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi with contemporary mufassir such as M. Quraish Shihab and tafsir at-Tanwir. Method: The method used is qualitative with a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i), which involves collecting and analyzing the verses of the Qur'an related to economic themes, then interpreting their meaning, context, and normative message through content analysis of the main interpretation text. Results: The results of the study show that the economic verses in the Qur'an have strong transformative value for forming a fair and inclusive financial system. These values have been partially implemented in the practice of institutions such as Bank Syariah Indonesia, LAZISMU, and Dompet Dhuafa. Implications: The implications of this study confirm that the Islamic financial system should be based not only on fatwas or legal standards, but also on the ethical values of the Qur'an. Novelty: The novelty of this study is an integrative approach between the interpretation of economic verses and the institutional practice of Islamic finance, making it a conceptual and practical foothold in designing a fair and sustainable Islamic economic system.
