Abstract

This research aims to determine the level of understanding of football coaches regarding early childhood development in Tanjung Mulia. It could be said that the development of football schools in Tanjung Mulia is still uneven. The only football schools that have seen progress are the teams that already have big names. This research uses a survey method, a type of quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The method of collection in this research was using a questionnaire. The sample in this study was 15 coaches from 25 Football Schools in Tanjung Mulia. The research results show that the trainer's overall understanding is in the "High" category, especially in the sub-focus of coaching objectives. Meanwhile, sub-facilities, training programs, achievement targets, funding and support from other parties are in the "Enough" category. The lowest percentage was obtained in the facilities sub-focus, with 81%. Coaches understand the purpose of coaching and the importance of achievement targets, but support from other parties and funding are also important factors in coaching. Most trainers already understand the goals of the training they will achieve, but the training program must be adapted to the capacities and characteristics of the children being trained. It is hoped that this research can provide input to increase trainers' understanding in developing early childhood soccer athletes in Tanjung Mulia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of basic coaching principles in improving ball control skills among beginner futsal athletes at SMP Nurcahaya Medan. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collected through questionnaires and ball control skill tests. The sample consisted of 10 beginner futsal athletes selected using the total sampling technique. The results showed that the athletes’ ball control skills were in the fair to good category. This indicates that the coach has applied fundamental coaching principles such as individuality, variation, and training load, although improvements in consistency and training variation are still needed. Thus, the implementation of basic coaching principles has a positive effect on improving ball control abilities among beginner futsal athletes.

Abstract

Basketball requires physical endurance, speed, and high energy expenditure. Students often experience low fitness levels due to lack of physical activity, which can hinder their athletic performance. Irregular food and beverage consumption can also affect nutritional status. Techniques and training without adequate nutritional support will not achieve optimal performance. This study aims to examine the relationship between nutritional status and physical activity with the fitness levels of basketball players in the basketball student activity unit (UKM Basket). This study used a cross-sectional design. A sample of 40 people was randomly selected using simple random sampling. Data collection included nutritional status with weight and height measurements, a physical activity questionnaire, and fitness level measurements using the bleep test method. Data analysis used Pearson correlation. The majority of respondents had normal nutritional status (85.7%) for men and 84.1%) for women. The majority of respondents had high physical activity (52.4%) for men and 73.7%) for women. Meanwhile, the fitness level of the majority was good (28.5%) for men and 26.3%) for women. There was a relationship between physical activity (p=0.049) and fitness levels, while there was no significant relationship between nutritional status and fitness levels in basketball players (p=0.693). Physical activity is related to fitness levels, while nutritional status is not related to fitness levels in basketball players. Basketball players should monitor their nutritional status (BMI) along with regular physical activity, such as exercise, in their daily lives. Good nutritional status alone, without physical activity, will not improve fitness levels.
