Abstract

This study aims to examine household waste management behavior and identify the factors influencing such behavior in Harau District, West Sumatra. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to residents of Nagari Tarantang. The analysis employed Pearson correlation and regression tests to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, social norms, and available facilities with the implementation of the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The results indicate that waste management practices are still dominated by non-segregated disposal, although some households have begun adopting basic waste reduction practices. Knowledge and facility availability show significant influence on waste-related behavior, while social pressure and attitudes demonstrate moderate effects. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening environmental education and improving infrastructure to support effective and sustainable 3R practices.
