Abstract

ABSTRACT This article comprehensively examines the concepts, theories, and practices of developing public communication strategies in Islamic broadcasting in the digital era. The study begins with an explanation of the theoretical foundations of public communication according to leading scholars, the basic concepts of Islamic broadcasting, and the integration of both within the context of contemporary digital media. Using a systematic literature review method focusing on scholarly publications from 2020–2025, this article analyzes the paradigm shift in da’wah communication from conventional to digital models and identifies effective strategies for reaching modern audiences. The findings indicate that public communication in Islamic broadcasting requires a holistic approach that integrates mass communication theories (agenda-setting, uses and gratifications), new media theories (interactivity, convergence), and the principles of Islamic da’wah. Key strategies include: (1) creative content grounded in authentic Islamic values, (2) consistent messaging with contextual relevance, (3) the use of analytic data for audience targeting, (4) collaboration with religious influencers, and (5) strengthening digital literacy among da’i. This article contributes to the development of a theoretical–practical framework for public communication in Islamic broadcasting that is adaptive to the dynamics of modern communication technologies while preserving the essential values of Islamic da’wah. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the public communication of dakwah (Islamic preaching) carried out by Qotrunnada Syathiry through the social media platform TikTok, based on Harold D. Lasswell's mass communication theory. The research explores how Qotrunnada Syathiry utilizes TikTok to disseminate dakwah messages and engage with a broader audience, focusing on the five key elements of Lasswell's model: who (the communicator), what (the message), in which channel (the medium), to whom (the audience), and with what effect (the impact). By employing content analysis and examining the interaction metrics such as views, likes, comments, and shares, the study reveals that Qotrunnada's communication approach effectively builds credibility (ethos), evokes emotional responses (pathos), and utilizes TikTok's interactive features to engage audiences. The findings indicate that TikTok serves as an efficient medium for reaching diverse audiences, especially the younger generation, while promoting positive values and spiritual messages. This research contributes to the understanding of how mass communication theory can be applied to digital platforms for effective dakwah and offers insights for future research in digital Islamic communication strategies.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the definition and meaning of da'wah from the perspective of the Qur'an and Hadith, focusing on the fundamental principles and methods applied in the da'wah process. In the Qur'an, da'wah is explained through the call to invite to goodness (amar ma'ruf nahi munkar), which should not be done with force but rather with wisdom, good advice (mau'izhah hasanah), and polite debate (jidal bi allati hiya ahsan). The Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ reinforces that da'wah is the responsibility of every Muslim, even by conveying just one verse. The method of da'wah must be done with gentleness, in accordance with the principle that Allah loves gentleness in all matters. Furthermore, good character plays a central role in the success of da'wah. This study analyzes various verses of the Qur'an and Hadith to reveal the deep meaning of da'wah and its application in the life of Muslims, both in theory and practice.
