Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of adolescent girls in preventing stunting from an early age through health education and the distribution of iron supplementation tablets as an effort to prevent anemia. The program was implemented through four stages: socialization of the activity to school authorities and participants, administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires to measure knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, health education on stunting and anemia, and the distribution of iron tablets with teachers involved as program evaluators. The results showed that 87% of participants had good knowledge, 11% had moderate knowledge, and 2% had poor knowledge. Positive attitudes toward stunting prevention were demonstrated by 68% of participants, while 32% remained neutral or less supportive. In terms of behavior, 45% of participants were in the moderate category, 40% in the good category, and 15% in the poor category. Overall, this community service program was effective in improving the knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls; however, continuous education and mentoring are still needed to ensure consistent adoption of stunting prevention behaviors in daily life.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, and its prevention requires early intervention, including among adolescents as future parents and productive generations. Adolescents play a strategic role in shaping long-term health and nutritional behaviors; therefore, understanding their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward stunting is essential. This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of students at SMA Negeri 13 Padang regarding stunting. A descriptive study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. A total of 100 students were selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected between November and December 2024 using a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis with frequency and percentage distributions. The results showed that most respondents had good knowledge of stunting (87%) and positive attitudes toward stunting prevention (68%). However, preventive behaviors were predominantly categorized as moderate (45%) and were not fully aligned with the level of knowledge possessed. This study concludes that a gap exists between knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviors related to stunting among adolescents. Therefore, continuous school-based educational interventions focusing on behavioral change are recommended to strengthen stunting prevention efforts from an early age.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the hemoglobin level in the blood is less than 12 g/dl. Anemia in adolescents will result in decreased concentration, decreased physical fitness, and growth disorders, so that height and weight do not reach normal levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls. This study employed a quantitative analytical method with a cross-sectional approach. It was conducted at SMAN 12 Padang from January to July 2025 with a sample size of 54 female adolescents, using proportional random sampling. The research instruments used were digital scales, microtoise, and digital hemoglobinometer, which were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results of the study showed that a low BMI was more prevalent in the anemia group (57.4%) than in the non-anemia group (42.6%). The statistical test results showed a significant relationship between BMI with the incidence of anemia in adolescent girls (p-Value (p = 0.000)). Conclusion: There is a significant association between BMI with the occurrence of anemia in adolescent girls. It is hoped that adolescents will gain a better understanding of anemia and nutritional status.

Abstract

Hospital-based health promotion services (PKRS) can impact a hospital's image. Although not explicitly impacted, hospitals must take development steps to achieve optimal hospital-based health promotion services. The purpose of this study is to provide a reference for the implementation of PKRS at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital by analyzing existing problems and providing solutions, work plans, and monitoring and evaluation plans. This qualitative study used internal hospital document analysis, retrospective field observations, and critical reflection on the processes and obstacles encountered directly in implementing PKRS at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital. The results indicate that the implementation of hospital-based health promotion services at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital is still suboptimal because the person responsible for implementing PKRS has only recently been established under the name PKRS Unit, the PKRS work program is still limited, and internal problems exist, such as limited human resources, funding, and facilities and infrastructure. Based on this research, it is necessary to optimize PKRS supported by the leadership, owners, staff, and stakeholders in the hope of providing comprehensive health services to the community
