Abstract

This study examines risk management practices in a small-scale garment business, Planet Lain Konveksi, located in Bandung City. Small and medium-sized enterprises in the garment sector face various uncertainties that may disrupt production activities and affect business sustainability. This research aims to identify potential risks encountered by the business and to analyze the application of risk management based on the ISO 31000 framework. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using direct observation and interviews with the business owner as the primary data sources. The results indicate that Planet Lain Konveksi is exposed to several key risks, including operational, financial, human resource, marketing, market, and legal risks. Some risks demonstrate relatively high levels of impact and likelihood, particularly those related to raw material delays, machine breakdowns, and delayed customer payments. The implementation of ISO 31000-based risk management is expected to support SMEs in anticipating potential issues, improving operational stability, and maintaining business sustainability within the increasingly competitive garment industry.

Abstract

MSMEs play a vital role in supporting Indonesia's economic growth, yet they frequently face challenges in maintaining business sustainability. One such challenge is the lack of effective risk management implementation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of risk management at the Trezzya Accessories MSME, a business engaged in the production and sale of handmade accessories and gifts. The analytical method used refers to the ISO 31000:2018 framework, which encompasses the identification, analysis, and assessment of risks, supported by a SWOT analysis to assess the business's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The results indicate that the main risks faced include operational, financial, and market risks, which significantly impact business sustainability. The implementation of mitigation strategies such as strengthening digital marketing, improving human resource skills, and more structured financial management is considered capable of minimizing potential losses and increasing business competitiveness. Thus, the implementation of ISO 31000-based risk management plays a crucial role in supporting the stability and sustainability of the Trezzya Accessories MSME amidst dynamic market competition.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in supporting the national economy, particularly in the creative industry sector. One MSME operating in this sector is Annisa Toys, a doll production and retail business located in Kampung Boneka Sayati, Bandung Regency. Although Annisa Toys has been established since 1UU2 and has experienced significant business growth, various business risks remain and may affect its operational continuity and sustainability. This study aims to identify the business risks faced by Annisa Toys, analyze the level of risk based on the ISO 31000 framework, and formulate appropriate risk mitigation strategies. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through direct observation, interviews with the business owner, and documentation studies. The results indicate that Annisa Toys faces several major risk categories, including operational risk, financial risk, human resource risk, market risk, marketing risk, and legal risk. Operational and market risks are identified as the most significant threats, particularly those related to custom doll production processes, intense price competition, and changes in consumer behavior. The implementation of ISO 31000–based risk management is expected to help Annisa Toys minimize risk impacts, improve operational efficiency, and maintain business sustainability in the increasingly competitive doll industry.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), such as motorcycle repair shops, face various challenges that threaten their business continuity. This study analyzes risk management at the Mang Wahyu Motorcycle Workshop MSME in Bandung City. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through a case study, data was collected via in-depth interviews and observation. The results identify a number of critical risks categorized into four main aspects: (1) Market Risk, including declining demand for conventional motorcycle services and price competition from digital competitors; (2) Operational Risk, in the form of repair delays due to obsolete equipment and dependence on a single supplier; (3) Human Resource (HR) Risk, covering internal conflicts and limitations in technical competence; and (4) Financial Risk, namely price fluctuations for spare parts and cash flow disruptions. Further analysis using a risk matrix shows that most risks have a high impact level and require immediate treatment. As an implication, this study recommends a set of mitigation strategies, such as service diversification towards electric vehicles, improvement of operational processes, enhancing HR capacity through training, and strengthening financial management. The implementation of these recommendations is expected to increase business resilience and support the sustainability of motorcycle workshop MSMEs amidst a competitive market dynamic.
