Abstract

The rapid use of social media has expanded access to information and economic opportunities, but it has also increased community exposure to impersonation, phishing, account takeover, fraudulent investment offers, fake customer service accounts, and other forms of social engineering. This community service activity aimed to strengthen digital legal literacy so that participants could identify suspicious messages, protect personal data, preserve electronic evidence, and choose appropriate reporting channels. The activity was conducted in Bandar Lampung on 15 March 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. using participatory legal education, case-based discussion, message-verification exercises, and fraud-response simulations. The program introduced the S.T.O.P. protocol: Stop, Examine, Observe, and Confirm before responding to suspicious digital communications. Evaluation was carried out qualitatively through observation of participant engagement, responses to case scenarios, and reflection at the end of the session because attendance and numerical pre-test/post-test data were not included in the source materials. The activity showed that practical simulations helped participants distinguish urgent legitimate messages from manipulative messages, understand the importance of protecting one-time passwords and identity data, and recognize that reporting requires complete electronic evidence. The program implies that legal education should be integrated with digital skills, security awareness, and community-based follow-up.
