Abstract

This study aims to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes. This study was conducted using the inquiry learning model with the picture and picture type, which emphasizes student activity in observing, reasoning, and concluding learning material through image media. This study is a classroom action research based on Kemmis and Taggart's theory, which was implemented in the learning process in the classroom through two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. Each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The research data obtained were in the form of the completeness of the students' cognitive learning test results in each cycle, which were then analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the average learning outcome score of students in class VII F of SMP Negeri 31 Semarang in cycle I was 81.25 and increased in cycle II with an average score of 86.81. Based on this increase in the average score, the researcher concluded that the inquiry learning model was effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes.
