Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a strategic initiative of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia that aims to improve the quality of the nation's Human Resources (HR) and support the realization of the 2045 Golden Generation through overcoming the complexity of the three burdens of nutritional problems. However, in its implementation, it faces a number of challenges, including reports of food safety incidents in beneficiaries. This literature review evaluates the program's impact, health risks, and alignment with public policy and nutritional standards. This study is a literature review using the keyword “MBG”, “Poisoning”, and “Halal Thayyib” through the Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus for the 2021–2025 period, 25 highly relevant scientific articles were analyzed. The results of this study were obtained as many as 25 scientific articles that are considered the most relevant in this study. The results of the study show that MBG has a positive impact on improving the nutritional status of students, increasing the level of concentration in the classroom, reducing student attendance rates in schools, empowering local catering MSMEs and absorbing the production of regional farmers. On the other hand, this study highlights the importance of strengthening the food safety monitoring system and program governance. This study recommends improving MBG policies through strict oversight of food safety standards, as well as improving transparent and accountable program governance.   Keywords:MBG, Poisoning, HalalThayyib
