Quantitative research type, quasi-experimental method and nonequivalent control group design. Data collection was done through observation sheets and pretest-posttest questions. Data obtained was analyzed through descriptive statistical tests and inferential statistics such as independent tests, linearity tests, Ancova tests, Cohen's d Effect Size tests and N-Gain tests. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that (1) the implementation of the problem based learning model based on socioscientific issues in terms of teacher implementation and student activities can be carried out very well. (2) Student activities based on creative thinking abilities also include creative criteria for all indicators. (3) The problem based learning model is effective in improving students' creative thinking abilities.
