Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of storyboard media in enhancing senior high school students' writing performance in narrative texts. This study employed a pre-experimental design with one pre-test and post-test group to measure the difference before and after the application of storyboards. Writing output scored by using 9 elements of narrative writing adapted to Davis and Mckay (1996). The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test to analyze the significant difference that occurred before and after the treatment of storyboard media and each aspect of writing. This study aims to provide further insight into the use of storyboards in learning by relying on proof concept and theory testing. The results showed a significant increase in the average score from 74.01 in the pretest to 88.92 in the posttest. More specifically, eight out of nine aspects improved after the storyboard treatment (p=0.05). These findings indicate that storyboard media significantly improved students' writing performance in narrative text writing.
