Abstract

Women have emerged as the key contributors in tourism development, as they engage willingly and take part in every activity conducted in the traditional villages of Takpala and Monbang. This study aimed to assess the extent of women's involvement, the elements that promote and hinder their participation, and initiatives to enhance women's engagement in the cultural tourism development of the traditional villages of Takpala and Monbang. This research utilizes both primary and secondary data, employing methods of data collection such as observation, detailed interviews, and documentation. This research employs qualitative descriptive data analysis, and involving 10 key informants. The results of this study showed that the level of women's participation in decision-making is very low so women in Takpala and Monbang Traditional Villages are forced to participate in tourism activities such as the formation of weaving, Sanggar groups and maintaining environmental cleanliness. On the other hand, the government of the tourism office and the culture office need to collaborate and work together to conduct socialization and training for women related to tourism as an activity that can support creativity, develop skills, create new innovations for women in the traditional villages of Takpala and Monbang
