Abstract

Diarrhea remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among children under five, including in Indonesia. Preschoolers are particularly vulnerable due to their immature immune systems and frequent contact with the environment during play. Poor hygiene practices, especially the lack of proper handwashing with soap, are major contributing factors. This community service program aimed to improve preschool children’s knowledge and skills in handwashing through the Handwashing Movement (CITA) at TK Kartika III-10 Semarang on April 17, 2025, involving 34 students and 3 teachers. The intervention included health education, educational videos, ice breaking activities, and demonstration of the WHO-recommended six steps of handwashing, followed by guided practice. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in correct handwashing skills, increasing from 24% before the intervention to 88% after. The CITA program proved effective in fostering handwashing habits among preschoolers and has the potential to reduce the incidence of diarrhea while promoting healthy living from an early age.

Abstract

Cesarean section (CS) is a surgical procedure performed to deliver a fetus through an incision in the abdominal wall and uterine wall. The incision in the abdomen may cause disruption of the subcutaneous tissue, affect hemostasis and blood circulation, and increase the risk of bleeding and wound infection. One of the interventions performed by healthcare professionals to support and accelerate the healing process of cesarean section wounds is early mobilization. Early mobilization refers to a series of activities initiated shortly after cesarean section surgery, beginning with turning to the right and left sides, sitting up and sitting at the bedside, followed by getting out of bed, standing, and gradually learning to walk with assistance according to the patient's condition. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of early mobilization on wound healing after cesarean section. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive research method. The study population consisted of post-cesarean section. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents, namely 23 respondents (92%), experienced wound healing in the good category, while 2 respondents (8%) had wound healing in the less favorable category. Conclusion: Patient after cesarean section who performed early mobilization demonstrated good wound healing. Early mobilization can be considered as one of the nursing interventions to support wound healing in post-cesarean section patients.
