Abstract

This systematic literature review explores the implementation of Islamic education concepts in enhancing the quality of education. The study examines key principles, methods, and challenges associated with integrating Islamic values into contemporary educational practices. Drawing upon diverse sources, such as journal articles, books, and theses, the research highlights approaches like the talaqqi, deliberation, and tarbiyah methods, which emphasize character development, moral education, and academic excellence. Findings reveal that integrating Islamic values with modern educational techniques can significantly improve learning outcomes and student competencies. However, obstacles such as inadequate teacher training, limited resources, and the need for curriculum adjustments persist. The study underscores the importance of innovative management strategies, teacher development programs, and the adoption of competitive curricula to address these challenges. By harmonizing Islamic teachings with evolving educational needs, this research provides actionable insights for educational institutions aiming to foster holistic student development and enhance overall education quality.

Abstract

Islamic education policy plays a strategic role in shaping religious identity, governance, and social cohesion in Muslim-majority countries. Despite sharing Islam as a foundational reference, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia have developed distinct policy orientations shaped by divergent philosophical commitments, legal frameworks, and sociocultural contexts. Existing studies have primarily examined these systems in isolation or through a single analytical lens, leaving a limited comparative understanding of how multiple dimensions interact to shape Islamic education policy. This study addresses this gap by comparing Islamic education policies in Indonesia and Saudi Arabia through philosophical, juridical, and sociocultural perspectives. The study employed a qualitative-comparative approach based on library research. Data were collected from primary sources, including national education laws and official policy documents, as well as secondary sources such as peer-reviewed journal articles and academic books. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis to identify patterns of convergence and divergence across the three analytical dimensions. The findings reveal that Indonesia adopts an integrative and pluralistic model of Islamic education, combining Islamic values with a secular-constitutional framework that emphasizes religious moderation and social diversity. In contrast, Saudi Arabia implements a centralized and theologically uniform model grounded in Sharia-based governance and Salafi doctrinal orientation. Socioculturally, Indonesia’s multicultural context encourages adaptability, while Saudi Arabia’s relative homogeneity supports policy uniformity, albeit with gradual reforms under Vision 2030. This study contributes theoretically by proposing an integrative analytical framework that explains how philosophy, law, and sociocultural context jointly shape Islamic education policy. Practically, it offers insights for developing Islamic education systems that balance theological integrity with inclusivity and global educational demands.

Abstract

Education has a strategic role as the main foundation of national development, because it contributes directly to improving the quality of human resources (HR) andsupporting sustainable economic, social, and political growth. This study aims toanalyze education policies in Indonesia and evaluate their implications for nationaldevelopment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a policy study design, thisstudy utilizes literature studies, policy document analysis, and secondary data fromvarious official sources. The results of the study show that although there is a policycommitment to make education a driver of development, challenges such as inequalityof access, teacher quality, infrastructure, and the digital divide are still majorobstacles. The implementation of policies such as the Independent Curriculum andNational Assessment has also not been optimal in many regions. This study emphasizesthe importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and civilsociety, as well as the need for holistic and adaptive education reform so that educationtruly functions as a solid foundation for inclusive and sustainable nationaldevelopment.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of corporate governance mechanisms on strategic risk management (SRM) and firm performance, with SRM examined as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from managerial-level respondents across firms operating in dynamic and high-risk environments. The results reveal that board independence and board expertise significantly enhance SRM practices, underscoring the role of effective oversight and domain knowledge in shaping strategic responses to risk. SRM is also found to have a strong positive effect on firm performance, demonstrating its strategic value in improving organizational resilience and competitive advantage. However, board independence, board expertise, and board size show no direct effect on firm performance, indicating that governance mechanisms influence outcomes primarily through risk management processes rather than direct governance intervention. Board size also exhibits no significant relationship with SRM, suggesting that capability and functional effectiveness matter more than structural characteristics. Furthermore, SRM significantly mediates the relationships between board independence and firm performance, and between board expertise and firm performance, confirming its role as a crucial conduit through which governance affects organizational results. Overall, the findings reinforce the importance of aligning governance quality with strategic risk practices to enhance firm performance in increasingly unpredictable business environments.

Abstract

This study explores Ibn Khaldun's ideas on Islamic educational management by emphasizing the integration of knowledge and morality in educational leadership practices. As an influential Muslim intellectual in the fields of sociology, education, and the philosophy of history, Ibn Khaldun viewed knowledge as the main pillar of civilizational progress, while morality functions as the ethical compass guiding its application. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review, focusing primarily on Ibn Khaldun’s monumental work, the Muqaddimah, as well as other relevant scholarly sources. The findings reveal that Ibn Khaldun conceptualized education as a holistic process aimed at developing individuals who are not only intellectually competent but also morally mature. In the context of educational leadership, he highlighted the importance of exemplary leadership, justice, ethical responsibility, and the cultivation of virtuous character. The practical implications of these findings suggest that contemporary Islamic educational institutions can adopt Ibn Khaldun’s framework by strengthening value-based leadership, integrating moral education into institutional governance, and fostering a learning environment that balances intellectual excellence with ethical integrity. Consequently, the integration of knowledge and morality, as formulated by Ibn Khaldun, provides a relevant and strategic foundation for developing a holistic and sustainable model of Islamic educational management in the modern era.
