Abstract

Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition caused by a lack of nutrition for a long time, resulting in growth disorders. The condition of inadequate nutritional intake in children is important for stunting. The best nutritional intake for babies is breast milk. Breastfeeding is thought to affect the incidence of stunting. This study aimed to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in Candipuro Village. The research design uses qualitative research, namely retrospective or case-control. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling. Analysis of the data used in this study is to use descriptive and bivariate data analysis. The Chi-square data analysis results show a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in Candipuro Village (p=0.00). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in Candipuro Village. The results of this study provide input for mothers to provide exclusive breastfeeding to infants to avoid stunting.

Abstract

Primary postpartum hemorrhage is bleeding that occurs within the first 24 hours. Primary postpartum hemorrhage greatly affects maternal parity. One of the causes of maternal death related to bleeding is maternal parity. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal parity and primary postpartum hemorrhage. This research is an analytic observational study, while the research design is retrospective. Data were taken from medical records that entered the obstetrics and gynecology department of Bhayangkara Lumajang Hospital from January to April 2022 with a population of 160 spontaneous postpartum mothers. The sample studied was 40 respondents and was taken using Simple Random Sampling. Bleeding cases at Bhayangkara Lumajang Hospital from January to April 2022 showed a parity of respondents who were at risk of experiencing primary postpartum hemorrhage as much as (40%), parity at risk of not experiencing primary postpartum hemorrhage as much as (17.5%), the results obtained were X² greater from p so it can be concluded that there is a relationship between maternal parity and primary postpartum hemorrhage. It is hoped that health workers in the delivery room will refresh their knowledge to increase their knowledge and services so that complications and complications do not occur in childbirth.

Abstract

Infants aged 0-6 months are the most vulnerable to growth disorders. One way to increase a baby's weight is through baby SPA. This study aimed to determine the effect of infant SPA on weight changes in infants aged 3-6 months. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group pre-post test design approach. The population in this study were all infants aged 3-6 months at Ain Hartoko SPA, Tempeh District, Lumajang Regency, in July 2022. As many as 42 infants were divided into two groups, the experimental and the control groups, using the accidental sampling technique. The results showed that the baby's weight gain in the experimental group was mostly classified as overweight (56.3%), while in the control group, most were normal (62.5%). The Wilcoxon test results for the p-value for the experimental and control groups were both 0.000, so they experienced an increase in body weight after two weeks. The Mann-Whitney test results obtained p-value=0.045 <0.05, so infant SPA affects weight changes in infants aged 3-6 months. Health workers are expected to conduct counseling about infant SPA in collaboration with Toddler Posyandu cadres in the village to overcome failure to thrive in toddlers.

Abstract

Child health problems in Indonesia are affected by the high infant mortality rate (IMR). One of the reasons for the high infant mortality rate in Indonesia is the low level of breastfeeding immediately after birth (initiation of breastfeeding) and exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the sub-district health center. This study used an analytic survey study using a cross-sectional method. Data was collected using a questionnaire with a sample of 81 mothers with children aged 0-6 months, taking samples with purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Characteristics of the last educational research respondents 30 (37%) had junior high school education. The employment status of housewives was 34 (42%), 21 (25.9%) private, and 15 (18.5%) farmers. The average maternal age at productive age was 20-35, namely 46 (56.8%) mothers. The level of knowledge of mothers about exclusive breastfeeding mostly has a sufficient level of understanding of as many as 39 (48.1%) mothers. Mother behavior of infants aged 0-6 months mostly gave exclusive breastfeeding to their babies, as many as 47 (58%) mothers. There is a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge level about exclusive breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding to infants aged 0-6 months in the working area of the Krai health center with a p-value of 0.001. Mothers should actively ask midwives to explain the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding to motivate mothers to provide it to their babies.
