Abstract

Students of the Statistics Study Program often face difficulties in completing mini research projects, which are an essential part of project-based learning. This study aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by Statistics students at Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED), specifically the 2024 cohort, in conducting their mini research assignments. A descriptive quantitative approach was used. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews, with 69 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. The questionnaire instrument was tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that all items were valid, and the reliability coefficient of 0.753 indicated that the instrument was consistent and reliable. The analysis revealed that students primarily struggled with understanding statistical concepts, processing data using statistical software, and writing structured research reports. These findings highlight the need for additional guidance in both methodological and technical aspects of mini research. This study is expected to serve as an evaluation reference for lecturers and study programs to improve the quality of research-based learning in higher education. Abstract

Quality control is a critical aspect of the production process to ensure that the resulting products meet established standards. In the wine industry, quality is significantly influenced by chemical parameters such as pH, density, and alcohol content. This study aims to analyze the stability and consistency of these parameters using the X̄–R Control Chart method. The research utilizes secondary data from the Kaggle dataset, which contains physicochemical characteristics of wine. The methodology involves grouping data into subgroups, calculating control limits using statistical constants, and plotting the results to evaluate process conditions. The results indicate that the X̄–R Control Chart is effective in monitoring process changes over time, allowing for early detection of variations that could affect product quality. Parameters such as pH, density, and alcohol content show specific patterns that reflect the stability of the fermentation and production processes. By implementing this method, producers can maintain product consistency and take corrective actions before the product fails to meet specifications. Thus, the application of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) provides an objective and efficient approach to ensuring high-quality wine production.
