Abstract

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease characterized bycartilage damage, osteophyte formation, and joint space narrowing. Body Mass Index (BMI) is apotential risk factor influencing OA severity by increasing mechanical load on the knee joint. Kellgren& Lawrence classification via conventional radiography is a standard method to assess OA severity. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the association between BMI and knee OA severity based onKellgren & Lawrence criteria. Methods: An analytic observational cross-sectional study wasconducted at RSUD Prof. Dr. Aloei Saboe from May to July 2025. Thirty patients diagnosed withknee OA underwent BMI measurement and conventional knee radiography. Data were analyzed usingSpearman rank correlation test. Results: Most patients had Kellgren & Lawrence grade 2 or 3 OA.BMI distribution ranged from normal to severe obesity. Statistical analysis showed no significantcorrelation between BMI and OA severity (p = 0.457). Conclusion: No significant associationbetween BMI and radiographic OA severity was found. Further studies with larger samples arerecommended.

Abstract

Trauma energi tinggi (70,1%) didominasi kecelakaan lalu lintas (55,2%), femur tersering (32,8%), traumatik (83,6%), tertutup (56,7%), komplit (89,6%). Kesimpulan: Pola fraktur mencerminkan trauma produktif; diperlukan pencegahan keselamatan berkendara dan rekam medis lengkap.

Abstract

Escalating disasters in Indonesia (3,472 events in 2024) demand Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) competency among health students, yet curriculum integration remains inadequate. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between cognitive RHA competency and disaster preparedness. An observational analytic cross-sectional study involved 310 medical, nursing, and midwifery students at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo using Proportional Stratified Random Sampling. Instruments comprised Guttman scale questionnaires (RHA knowledge) and Likert scale (preparedness), analyzed via Spearman's Rho test (α=0.05) using SPSS. Results revealed 61.1% respondents achieved "Good" RHA knowledge category with significant correlation (p=0.004). The study concludes RHA competency positively contributes to disaster preparedness through implicit knowledge, recommending interprofessional simulation for curriculum transformation.

Abstract

Introduction. Sepsis remains a major global health problem with high incidence and mortality, including in Indonesia. One of the key factors contributing to sepsis-related mortality is the uncontrolled activation of inflammatory and coagulation pathways. C-reactive protein (CRP) serves as a marker of inflammation, while D-dimer reflects coagulation activation. Both biomarkers are commonly elevated in sepsis and are thought to be closely associated. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between CRP and D-dimer levels in sepsis patients treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of RSUD Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe. Methods. This analytic observational study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in the ICU of RSUD Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe from July to November 2025. A total of 48 sepsis patients were included using total sampling based on medical record data from January to December 2024. The relationship between CRP and D-dimer levels was analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. Results. All patients showed elevated CRP levels (100%), and most had increased D-dimer levels (97.9%). Bivariate analysis demonstrated a statistically significant positive correlation between CRP and D-dimer levels, with a correlation coefficient of +0.333, indicating a weak to moderate association. Conclusion. There is a significant positive correlation between CRP and D-dimer levels in sepsis patients in the ICU of RSUD Prof. Dr. H. Aloei Saboe. Higher CRP levels tend to be accompanied by increased D-dimer levels, reflecting the interplay between inflammation and coagulation activation in sepsis.
