Abstract

The sustainability of traditional markets has a very strategic role in increasing the income of traditional market traders. The reality is that the implementation of local government policies on the protection and empowerment of traditional markets is still not running optimally in Indramayu Regency. Reaping protest reactions from traditional traders in the Regency and a decline in the economic income of traditional market traders in Indramayu Regency. The method used in this research is qualitative. Data collection is done by using interview technique as a tool in qualitative research. information that is not recorded in the document, information from relevant events and personalities. The data analysis technique used in this research is interactive model analysis. Data induction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing are carried out in an interactive form with the data collection process as a cycle. The results showed that the implementation of the protection policy and the empowerment of traditional markets in Indramayu Regency was still not in accordance with the practice in the field, especially the issue of the distance between traditional markets and modern shops which was not in accordance with Perda No. 4 of 2014, and the local government of Indramayu Regency had not been firm in controlling modern shops that do not have permits are in reality still up and operating.
