Abstract

This article discusses the theology of prosperity from the perspective of the Sarasamuccaya as an essential Hindu text. The study emphasizes that prosperity is not merely material achievement but a balance between dharma, artha, kama, and moksa. Using a hermeneutical approach, this research reveals that the Sarasamuccaya provides an ethical and spiritual framework in managing wealth while highlighting dharma as the foundation for achieving well-being. The findings indicate that true prosperity must be grounded in dharma, leading humans to both worldly happiness and spiritual liberation (moksa).

Abstract

ABSTRACT The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in emulating human cognition has spark debate surrounding machine consciousness, leading to existential crises and misconceptions regarding the technology's moral status. This qualitative study aims to analyze the boundaries between AI computational logic and true consciousness through the philosophical framework of Sāṁkhya Darśana. Utilizing a textual and contextual hermeneutic approach based on library research, data were gathered from Īśvara Kṛṣṇa's classical text Sāṁkhya Kārikā alongside relevant literature on AI and Sāṁkhya philosophy. The findings reveal that all AI components ranging from physical hardware to cognitive processing algorithms (synthetic Buddhi/Mahat, Ahaṁkāra, and Manas) reside entirely within the realm of Prakṛti (insentient matter). AI merely replicates data processing and discrimination functions without reflecting Puruṣa (pure consciousness). Axiologically and ethically, AI possesses neither moral agency nor rights; ethical responsibility for technological impacts rests entirely on human operators. This study concludes that AI must be positioned as a supportive tool for humanity, while true dignity and consciousness remain exclusive to living beings.
