Abstract

This study aims to provide information on the genetic diversity of sorghum plants to increase yields and provide information on candidate F6 lines for alternative food for the food crisis in Indonesia. The study was conducted at the BSIP Cereal Plants, Lau District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, from March to June 2024. The research design used was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 15 F6 lines and two comparison varieties, which were repeated three times. Each plot measures 3 x 4 meters and consists of 80 plants. Genetic diversity and growth characteristics are supported by significant differences such as plant height, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, and panicle weight. characters indicate that these traits are influenced by genetic factors and can be passed down to the next generation. Characters such as plant height, leaf length, leaf width, stem diameter, and panicle weight show a positive correlation with yield potential. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi keberagaman genetik tanaman sorgum terhadap peningkatan hasil serta memberikan informasi kandidat galur F6 untuk pangan alternatif bagi krisis pangan di indonesia. Penelitian dilaksanakan di BSIP Tanaman Serealia, Kecamatan Lau, Kabupaten Maros, Sulawesi Selatan, pada Maret hingga Juni 2024. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 15 galur F6 dan dua varietas pembanding, yang diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Setiap plot berukuran 3 x 4 meter dan terdiri dari 80 tanaman. Keragaman genetik dan karakter pertumbuhan didukung oleh adanya perbedaan signifikan seperti tinggi tanaman, panjang daun, lebar daun, diameter batang, dan bobot malai. karakter menunjukkan bahwa sifat-sifat tersebut dipengaruhi oleh faktor genetik dan dapat diturunkan ke generasi berikutnya. Karakter-karakter seperti tinggi tanaman, panjang daun, lebar daun, diameter batang, dan bobot malai menunjukkan korelasi positif dengan potensi hasil.
