Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms, analyze the influencing factors, and examine the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in TikTok content on the @devinkosh account. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a sociolinguistic approach. The data source consists of utterances in TikTok videos containing code-switching and code-mixing phenomena. Data were collected using the non-participatory observation technique (SBLC) and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that there are three main forms: internal code-switching, external code-switching, and code-mixing. External code-switching is the most dominant form, characterized by shifts from Mandarin to Indonesian and English. Code-mixing generally occurs in the form of lexical insertion from other languages into the main language structure. The factors influencing these phenomena include communication context, interactional goals, speaker identity, and the need to clarify meaning. Functionally, both phenomena serve as effective communication strategies.
