Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of understanding among fifth-grade students at SDN 166/1 Olak Rambahan in the subject of Pancasila Education. Students experienced difficulties in remembering and understanding the learning materials, were less able to apply the concepts learned in daily life, and lacked confidence in expressing their opinions regarding the topics of norms, rights, and obligations. The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of fifth-grade students at SDN 166/1 Olak Rambahan in Pancasila Education through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model. Keywords: Discovery Learning, Students' Understanding, Pancasila Education, Classroom Action Research. The methodology used in this study was Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 15 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model was able to improve students’ understanding. The average student score increased from 53.33 in the pre-cycle to 69.33 in Cycle I and 76.00 in Cycle II. The percentage of learning mastery improved from 26.67% in the pre-cycle to 60% in Cycle I and 80% in Cycle II. Teacher activity increased from 82.14% to 85.71%, while student activity increased from 67.85% to 82.14%. Therefore, the Discovery Learning model was effective in improving students’ understanding in the Pancasila Education subject.
